I received an email from Rod Cross, who has the below refinery. He would like to find a good home for it and asked me if I could post it here. Here are his own description:

I have this Refinery model that I bought at an auction at the Refinery where I worked and now thinking about moving since I took early retirement......

Bob,
Thanks for the reply back. It is a nice model that would benifit some model crane guy. The foot print is pretty big there are three tables you put together it becomes 8' wide and 5'4" long. it is pretty nice. Would you put it on the forum and put in my e-mail address. There might be some takers out there. The only way to to move it would be to pick up with a pick up and an enclosed trailer. It has been in my storage bldg and is pretty dusty which makes it all that more real.

You can contact Rod at jcross4834@sbcglobal.net

Reminds me of one I picked up at the Pioneer Chemical demolition in Tacoma WA. Word from the wise, DO NOT SHIP UPS!!! unless you plan on using it as a demolition diorama, (which coincidentally was my plan)

Eric, did you ever get around to posting pics of yours set up as a demo dio? Great post Bob and I'm sure Rod will miss it once it's gone. Hope it finds a good home!

that is one incredible dio, and some extreme attention to detail... how sweet that would look with some large cranes in it

This style of model doesn't ship well no matter who carries it. My dad was a professional model maker for 25 years, and that's what he built all day long, only smelter plants and models mostly.

It looks very nice indeed, but I think it's not suitable for large cranes. If there were more large destillation columns e.g. it would be more interesting.

Regards Randy

5 minutes ago I sold my Spierings SK599-AT5. Now both mobile tower cranes are gone. Today my MK100 went to a new owner.

Thats exactly what the large cranes would be there for to upgrade and add the towers to an already cramped refinery. It would be perfect. Mark L
