the international 580 was anounced in 1972 but wasnt available untill a few years later. it was much bigger than the wa900. international marketed the machine and so did dresser when it took over in the mid 80s. komatsu marketed the big loader as the dresser haulpak 4000 . i think it was dropped in the late 90s.

Because of the request for some close ups of the Dresser and 675, here we go, First up I have taken a view from the rear end and showing a side of the Michigan Next is a shot of the Michigan in a full lift situation A side shot of the Dresser 4000 And a slightly different shot of the Dresser Now a shot showing a comparison of the size, Dresser 4000, Michigan 675 and the AEP 994D Cat Just to broaden the comparison, I have thrown in one with the LeTourneau L2350 as well I hope you enjoy the photos,,, they are all very nice machines, and as far as the technical stuff with the Dresser, I'll have to leave that to the other more learned gentlemen amongst us. Thanks Brian!
And footloose52 would you like to add the WA-1200 to your awsome collection at some point?
The Michigan 675 looks to have 2x engines (and if I had to guess 1710 Cummins) side by side unless i am mistaken!
footloose does some of your 994 models have different width tyres? I remember GAV84W saying early ones had truck tyres (and liked to fall over) and some of those angles look as though the 994F is better hung!

Rod, think you are onto it for the 675, the dresser loader lead into the WA1200 for Komatsu.
Early 994,s had a 49.5 x 57 tyre which the early diecast (NZG) models show and the later 994F Norscot models show a wider tread and a good representation of the change, i think it is a 50/80 x 57 size tyre on the F and the same as the L1350/L1850 Let loaders wear. They just look a bit better again (stability wise) as there stance is low to the ground.

For your information CAT793, I searched the Internet and came up with this information on the Dresser 4000 Wheel Loader: "Dresser's 1,350-hp model 4000 loader handles choice of six buckets ranging from 13 to 40 cubic yards The Haulpak Division has introduced the enormous, new 1,350-hp Dresser 4000 wheel loader, which features modular design to reduce downtime; mechanical drive transmission; a longer, more stable wheelbase; and an operating weight of 334,741 pounds. Two engines choices are available on the 4000. A 12-cylinder, two-cycle, turbocharged, direct-injection, intercooled Detroit Diesel 12V-149TI delivers a rated power output of 1,350 hp and a maximum torque of 3,880 pounds at 1400 rpm. Flywheel horsepower is 1,280 hp at 1900 rpm. A 12cylinder Cummins KTTA 38-C fourcycle, ... "

i few years back on ebay there was a set of drawings for an international 585 loader. it was a bit larger than the 580 and the seller said they where original international designs or somthing to that effect. i wonder if international / dresser had a bigger machine in the works. also there was a real 580 for sale in new hampshire last year. i think they where asking around 35k for it. it had a 25 yard bucket. theres a few around. i dont know how many haulpac 4000s where made .

Very nice collection footloose52! Some of those EMD's are very nice, but to pricey for me. The guy who'd probably know more about the 675 is Don Campbell. If I'm not mistaken, he built a model of one and also got up close to the real deal.

Peter-great looking collection you have there. I have one of the white 994F's heading my way too.
I have a question about the 994D AEP-was that a NZG factory painted model? Would you happen to have any close up shots of it? I haven't seen that version before if it is NZG factory paint.
thanks, Pete
