lainy,
this has been discussed recently: LG1750 or LG1550

I am fairly certain that the Derrick mast does not come with the model. It has be bought seperately.

Hi lainy,

As you may have read in the other post re same subject, if you have the funds go for the LG1550 IMO a far better model detail wise. I can also confirm that the LG1550 does not come with the derrick mast, but the derrick mast and luffing jib from the LTM1800 will fit and can be bought separately also you can get boom extensions for the LG1550.
Hope that helps
Steve.

The luffing jib for the LTM1800 is different than the LG1550, there will be a luffing jib for the LG. the LTM one will not fit, however the derrick mast will.

Hi Gaz

Only partly correct. The LTM1800 luffing jib equals the light luffing jib for the LG1550. The heavy jib for the LG1550 does not fit the LTM1800.

LG1550 with heavy jib (jib levers made out of strutwork, angle of jib is changed between jib levers)

LG1550 with light jib (= LTM1800 jib is identical, jib levers made out of full steel material, angled of jib is changed at the uppperstructure

LG1550 with heavy jib and light jib parts on top of that

LG1550 with SLK foldable main boom system (no thats not a jib, once the boom is up it stays at a fixed angle)

Go for the LG1550 since, you can add more things to it, and will not be able to add things to the LG1750. That is my opinion if I were to get one of those which I will not since, it is to expensive and I just do not like them, which is my opinion.

I have the LG1550 with the derrick, the same as the LTM1800, but as far as I can tell you can not use the derrick and the light jib together. If you want a derrick and jib for the LG1550 you will need the heavy jib wich is not out yet, you can use the light jib with out a derrick though.
Sorry if that is confusing.
Mark
I will post some pics later in the week

that is correct. it would also not make too much sense to put on the derrick boom when you just have the light jib on top. everything you can pick up with the light boom can be tackled by using just the main boom alone, no need for a derrick.

Hi guys, i just got a reply from YCC. YCC stated that in order to use the W(heavy luffing jib), we would need to buy the S (heavy main jib) as well in order to fit. Both these items are sold separately(in the future).

It will cost me a bomb for a full setup. Sad I was wondering, would it be better to get the LG1750, since i wanted a full setup? I'm only a student, so i got quite a limited budget. Or would it be advisable to purchase a base model of the LG1550, scrimp and save again, then purchase the boom options? What are your view guys? Your help would be appreciated.

I have several of the YCC madel and they are VERY nice! I do feel that the LG1550 for 850-900 USD is a very good deal. If you want the "full set-up" as you say, you will probably be out at least 2000USD. I have 900 in the basic crane and 450 for the derrick so thats 1350 and the heavy jib will be at least 650. So if you want a nice crane that is a more complete package, get the 1750. You should be able to get one shipped for 1000.00US

as always, IMO,
Mark

Thanks for the insight. =D I read the review on Cranes Etc. for the LG1750 and it stated that it does not come with reeving guide for the hooks! d'oh! I'm new to crane models, hence i have no idea how to reeve a 2 sheeve hook, let alone a hook that can lift 750tons. Silenced Does YCC include the reeving guide for the LG1550?

The hook block trick is to hold it stationary while you reeve it, camera tri-pod etc. I made an adjustable wood pole that I clamp the hook block to an reeve away. As for the diagrams, YCC has improved theirs a bit, and I don't know about the conrad one, the old LR1750 sucked. Just start with the small hook on the conrad 1750, it's not that bad.

Thanks Mark for your ingenious method. I've never thought of using a tripod! I guess i would return to YCC, since Conrad still uses quite some plastic parts in their LG1750 and i've got lots bad experiences with plastics.

Anyway my other qsn would be, can the YCC's LG1550 lift roughly 900grams? My mountain bike wheel weighs around there and i was wondering if i can use that to simulate the LG1550 lifting a kiddy ride of Ferris Wheel.
