Nice job on the tank. I thought it was plastic until you did the close up of it. Jason NIkl Scale Models

well done! Welcome to the forum also. Do you have more crane models? I like the AC500 in the Prangl livery.

Thanks guys! Yes I have one other crane - an LR1750 which I painted in Weldex livery (seeing that I live in Scotland) only to find out that they no longer have it lol. I'm planning to make a spreader beam so that I can get pictures of it lifting the tank. I have a small collection but it will grow. I'd like to buy a heavy haulage truck for this tank (and other payloads) but I'm not sure what to get. Thanks again folks.

nice job, the weldex crane is fantastic i remember talking to a few guys from weldex who were working on a new shopping centre here in waterford about 3 years ago nice lads, they told me they sold the crane 1750 that is they got more than they actually paid for it such was the demand for big cranes at the time i think he said it went to brazil, now i might be wrong but i am sure gaz or some of the crane experts will know. guso

Noel. Thanks. And yes I painted the boom - I just used black enamel paint and strips of masking tape. It really does add a nice touch to the model, however this AC500 isn't as good as my last one; two of the boom sections are a tight fit so I've had to file away some of the metal to stop the black paint and the decals from being scraped off. The LTM 1200 is even worse...I have to pry apart three of the boom sections with a screwdriver, so there's no room for paint there lol. It's interesting to hear what happened to the Weldex crane - I wish I'd been so lucky as to see it in real life. And thanks for the compliments - it took a long time but the final result is well worth the hard work. And if you're wondering, I used to have a standard Terex livery AC500-2. Unfortunately I damaged it (twice) and decided to sell it, because I really wanted a Prangl livery model anyway. I sadly had to sell the luffing fly jib to raise the funds, but I'll get it back one day. As a complete set, the AC500 with luffing fly jib is one of the most beautiful models I've ever seen in my life.

That's a good set up Davie you dont see many tandem lifts in 1.50. I've been making a section of bridge for about 2 months, for a lift with Liebherr LR and LG 1750,s for a local show at the start of June. i will try to get some photo's posted after the show. Jim

I agree about the ac500, it really is a beautiful model. I cant understand why conrad are discontinuing it, i wish they would make it in a few more liveries before they do.
