Had a great day today watching the new CC2800 go together 50m away from the crane i was driving, best thing is I was not surpossed to be there but a driver phoned in sick and i had to cover his crane. while walking in i saw this, thinking great, i might get to see some of the loads go in (unknown to me at the time i was going to be working right next to it) While walking up to site i saw this in the distance I immediatly had to get a closer look then i saw a few of the loads I now, over the next few hours got to see our LTM1200 come in and put the tracks on one for the dirt boys, a CAT dumper Back to cranes , arrival of the LTM1200 Reeving up the big block Lifting the tracks, 44.9t Tracks on and she's mobile. Tracks on down a ramp into postition. While more wagons arrive here's the crane i was driving, a LTM1030/2...baby crane!!! 200 sits at the top of the ramp and unloads wagons Then reachs down to the CC with the base slab and continues unloading! And stacking weights final picture is just before i left, just putting the 1st part of the back bast on and they where calling it a night. unfortunatly i will not be back there tomorrow as i was covering another driver so i will not be able to get anymore......not a bad set of photo's though Watch the olympic park webcams tomorrow and you might see a big blue boom go up enjoy Gaz

If you look at the last picture the tower crane and Weldex crawlers you can see in the back ground are on the Veledrome site, its right on the northern edge of the park near the entrance. Gaz

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

Very nice pictures! It is my ambition one day to be on site when a large crawler gets built up like that. Would love to see the whole process for myself.

Hi Gaz,
Great set of photos many thanks for taking the time to do this, I am sure it was not easy, with all the security etc you must have to put up with.

Wow, but this seems to be exactly how it works!. What starts off as a normal day suddenly turns into one of those big surprise days and I know the feeling!.
I'm curious(in a good way) but is there any particular reason why Somerscales was used for moving the main carbody?.

Gaz, Great set of photos. I was on the M25 between the M1 and A1 friday lunch time and I spotted a green 6 axle stepframe with Ainscough TGA, trailer had 7 weights on. partly hidden with other lorries and I was in the outside lane traveling at about 80mph. I thought they looked like terex crawler crane weights and I was wondering where it was going. Has this crane just returned from working at Southampton Docks????
