I am glad you guys are proud to be American.Whinging and arguing over nothing.Great video but unfortunately the 5230 and 5130 are the same, both slow and cumbersome.Just do not know where CAT went wrong with these.

Thanks for posting the link to the video, Vinny. Justin does a good job of getting nice closeup videos of a lot of mining equipment.

I wouldn't pay the arguing or negative comments much attention, all they are is a couple of sock puppets.

Love the 5230 video.
And yes, that 5230 is slow. But take a look at Justins videos if the 5130 shovel. I think it´s not as slow as everybody says. Looks like it´s as fast as some of the Demag H185Ss, Justin has taken videos of.

Thats not a good example of a typical dig set up in a mine but is a job that happens from time to time and top side loading in an awkward spot like that with a less than desirable bench height is always going to look slow. He is a bit slow on the bucket dump but other than that all looks pretty ok to me, did you notice the fill factor in the bucket, again pretty good for the low bench height. I have seen 5230,s cycle in 20 seconds with a very experienced operator and set up. I don,t disagree that the 5000 series enjoyed a poor reputation in the field but the 5230 was not near as bad as the little brother. I checked the worldwide population of these the other day and it was about 66 units with many repeat buyers.

I too want to thank you Vinny and Justin for making and posting this excellent video. Feel free to do it again anytime because some of us miss your mine tours and videos.

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

1,5 weeks ago I visited the only 5130B ME working in Germany. It´s workling in a limestone quarry where they´re not allowed to blast because of the nearby village. So the 5130B is ripping the limestone with its 9.6 cyd bucket. They´ve had it for over 10 years now and they had no issues with it. No problems on the undercarriage, no problem with the swing bearing, in fact nothing big at all. In their eyes it´s a very well powered and reliable machine. And it´s pretty fast, too.

Great Video, love some of the editing techniques used. They look to be in great condition. When you say all of them aren't in operation did you mean just on that day or they are redundant just sitting there?Think

In 2001 when the WTC collapsed, all the wreckage went to the Fresh Kills LAndfill (where the O&K's are) and there was so much gragare pilling up and debris so they had to close down Fresh Kills Landfill. All the equipment was layed to rest. They still have most of the machines left there, and in good condition.

They are actually working on a park that is going to be on the Landfill and the O&K's are going to be on display and you can get upclose and persional with them. Also they are going to be parking one on the side of the highway, so you can really see get upclose to them.

That's some big talk for someone who has never contributed anything. So lets see what you've got.
