I found this picture of a Marion 204-M shovel the other night.

This is a model of the Energy Fuels shovel which was working in their pit when I started at the P&M Edna Mine near oak Creek CO. in 1978.

Found on this site

http://www.fritzesmodellboerse.de/schaufenster/00_frameset_eng/index.htm

Does anyone have information as to who made this model? or if they can still be found.

Thanks,

larry

hello

the modell was made by atm. the company does not exist any more. the rest of the company is sold.
the modell is made of metall and very heavy and sold out many years now. you must look at e-bay sometimes you can see it or you should by it by a collector.

best regards

Here are some photos of other variants of the Marion "Superfront" in scale model form.

Here you can see all three versions of the Superfront produced by ATM.

The yellow (hydraulic) and white (rope) crowd models were one-offs.

Please use this before clicking "post"??? You may be surprised with what you see!

I have one Larry, I'm sat here looking at it right now, if you want a better photo let me know. I saw a tatty one for sale at the model show in Hastings, but the dealer wanted £2000 for it. Complete joke as someone had botched a repaint. I have heard that one was sold in USA for $4000 a couple of years ago.

Thanks for all of the information. I would indeed like to see additional pictures as the function of the crowd/boom is way different from all of the shovels I have seen in my 30 years of mining.

Here is a picture of the Energy Fuels shovel taken from Eric C. Orlemann's book:
Power Shovels: The World's Mightiest Mining and Construction Excavators

I guess I am going to have to save up for a few years to afford this model.

The yellow ones were sold to the Soviet Union in the late 70's and early 80's. They got ten of them, in all.

Really makes you think about who let critical equipment for strategic industries get sold to the Soviets at the height of the Cold war... Think

Here's a cool video of a Superfront in action. I've always wanted to see this!

Great pics of a model I have wanted for a long time. John, do you know anything about the B-E with the 3 Marions on the table? I am just curious what it may be.
