Worth EVERY penny, I don't know what the final sale was, but the new owner got the best one-off 385 I've ever seen. Jan's custom work is in a league of it's own. Search the old posts on this board there was one of the progress of that project. Not too many people can mold parts as needed for a project like that. I don't know the hours either, but the details are amazing too. Mark

The hours involved in the labor alone would have added to a large percentage of that price. You want the best, you pay for it. It's a lot of money, no doubt, but it would have been worth every penny in my eye! Eric, thanks for the info, really like the idea of the removable CW. I'll edit my original post! Cheers. I spent two months on making this model.I didn´t count the hours, but it was probably something around 300 hours. I didn´t build the model to make a profit out of it,but just for the fun of it and to improve my own skills. And I would have loved to keep it in my own collection.Unfortunately I can´t afford my own models. And when I got a big invoice last fall,I was happy there were some fellow collectors out there who were willing to help me out. The final price was higher than what I expected But 19% of the sales price was just value added tax. And what rested me after tax was about 5 euro per hour. So,yes the price was high in absolute amounts, but still low when you consider the effort that was put into it. I get more money for my work when I sell many small pieces like my handmade attachments compared to what I get for one of my major handmade custom models. My heart always tells me to make more of these single, handbuilt custom models, but my account balance tells me to concentrate on the small series production of attachments and other parts. So I try to make a little bit of both. And after all both sides get a profit.I have enough money to pay my bills and when I do the single customs I learn techniques that are useful and improve the quality of the serial produced parts. Jan

Rowan, great post! Eric P. is right, the first model pictured was mine. It is shown with the 1/64th Norscot model for comparison. I have since built a second with a "reach" boom and more detail. I'll get someone to post a couple pictures when they have time. All the other 385's look Great. Makes me want to throw mine out (almost!) DanielD.
