Here's two nice metal spreader bars I built this afternoon. The aluminum extrusion was once part of the drapery hardware in the old part of our house. This type of hardware was popular back in the fifties. This is first time I have tried to make a spreader bar out of metal.

Same here. Just one doubt. On the spreader bar in the 3rd pic, did you glue the lifting points? Or they are welded?

Cheers.

These are really cool. Great work, I don't think your model cranes will put 652 psi on those joints. Haha. Anyways, great work.

One thing I forgot to post was a tool that I made to help put in or take out the shackle pins. It's made from a piece of aluminum tubing with a small slot in it. After you have worked with it for awhile, you'll love it !!!

I'm sure it will be fine for model displays, but the rating is 652lbs per square inch. There is no where near a square inch of surface area in that joint. I'm not trying to pick a fight I really like the way they both look, its a lot nicer than plastic.
