I have wanted to build a G-series 630 size scraper for some time. Here are some of the parts I am starting with. I will be building a pair of Cat 631G's. I go the idea from Chris Bartell's gallery in the customer photos section of this website. http://www.dhsdiecast.com/content/gallery/index.cfm?gallery_id=3&cust_id=1950Now my question is: What differences are there between the various 631G's? Obviously in ~2007~2008 it changed to the power edge decals. There have been some other sheet metal changes I noticed. I would like to build a Power edge version but I want to know what other changes have been made to the 631G's. Top is early 631G, bottom is mid-life 631G. I think the power edge machines are the same as the mid-life in terms of sheet metal, but can someone reaffirm this?

Bumper modification done. Started on the left side hood cut-out for the air cleaner. Built hood and Cab risers.

That looks great so far, I made several over the years and that looks similar to how I did it. Please keep us posted of your progress. Graham

Down to details and sanding. I HATE making handrails. It is the only part of building models that I dislike. It probably doesn't help that I went rock climbing (My fingers were very sore afterwards). I've still got to do the rear of the scrapers and the bumper ladders.

A lot has happened since my last update. The cushion hitches and wheel/tire combo arrived from Neil D. Thanks it has made the 631's much better. I have only a couple of things to finish now. (exhaust, apron linkage, better decals, front tires rubbing, etc.)

Really nice work! I´ve always thought those models could benefit from a tire change. If you don´t mind my asking, where did you get those wheels and tires? Again, great job!

I got them from Neil D on here. He commented earlier in this thread. Just shoot him a PM and he should be able to help you out.
