I can also see some resemblance in the engine cover profile with Kawasaki and JCB, but it's neither. To narrow it down a little maybe; it is not from Japan, China, Korea or the UK. I'll post the actual photo after returning from the open house this weekend.

It's good to see there is still some interest in learning about interesting and unusual equipment here.

Komatsu is the world’s second largest manufacturer of hydraulic excavators and has manufacturing and marketing facilities.[24]

Another interesting fact; Larsen & Toubro started producing Poclain excavators under license in 1974 and a mildly revised 300 is still in the product range to this day.
