Came across this Mallet to be restored to operation on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. First the N&W J-611,then the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 and now the C&O 2-6-6-2 1309 . Great time to be a railfan.


Here she is being lifted by Hulcher Rail services for transport via heavy flat car.

I'm glad Steam isn't dead. The UP 4014 should be fully operational by hopefully 2018 according to UP spokesman. Dunno about the C&O 1309 nor the N&W J-611. Should be a great track-side show in the coming years.
