I would like to add some 'more' weight to one of my 4100's. I took the bottom frame apart and see there is space for more weight. Has anyone done this? will it effect the diecast frame? I was making a mold from steel then pouring lead and inserting part into the frame. Any comments would be appreciated. Bob

Where are you putting the weight? There isn't a whole lot of space. I've had to take mine apart and it is pretty much packed in there!

Unbplted the crawlers. Then took the 4 screws out of the bottom plate which is attached to the main frame. The plate comes off-its about 2.5"X2.375". There is an hollow area under this plate. I'm goona pour one and see the exact weight of the lead.Working on the mold now-besides honey doos, and yard work-digging out a tree stump by hand. maybe by the weekend. Bob

i just simply filled the area and the 2 counter weights with BB's. cheap and no mess, added quite a bit of stability to the 4100 tower. Mike

For the frame counterweights, I put some pennies in mine for some extra weight. I think I stacked them four high, and taped them together with scotch tape so they looked neat, and I put them in the empty frame counter weight since I do not have any extensions which comes with extra lead weights.

I like the 'simple' add on weight. I make things 'hard' sometimes. I do it to see if I can. I have some 'shot' that is heavy thought about using that then said lets try making a lead weight. thanks guys for the comments.

Bob, I have used old tire balance weights, cut to maximum size, to add weight, and no heating/melting of lead required. DanielD

Funny you said that. I hang out at a tire shop sometimes after work to get the 'news'-gossip.

I made a slurry of lead shots and epoxy and poured it in the cavity. Over 3 years and still holding fine.
