just getting back into this, got bored and made this so i thought i would share. was also wondering if anyone has done a custom 953 and if there is anything eles i can do to mine

A lot of people like to take first gear td15 ' s and use the tracks from them on the 953. The bucket looks good, what is it off of?

im not sure what the bucket is off. i got it in a box a parts i bought years ago.
used the mount off a deere 744 , custom maked the triangular gaurd on the top and the eye loops where off a backhoe bucket

Looking good!, really nice bucket. How did you attach the lifting eyes to the top of the bucket? I take it they are diecast too? If it were mine, another thing I'd do is get rid of the blue tinted glass in the cab.

im pretty sure i bought this bucket of brain like 6 years or more ago , and your right i never noticed they were.
how can can i change the glass color?
the eye loops are die cast, i had a broken cat backhoe bucket i cut them off, used a dremel and cut a small slot in the bucket and glued them in.

That bucket looks pretty darn good, almost better than the original one, so, 'hab at her!!! To change the color of the "Windows" should'nt be too hard if you got clear styrene.I am not too sure how the model is set up(mine is still in box, i don't even know in wich one!!). but if it is the same than on many models of that vintage, you only need to remove one screw underneat the model and everything should come off without too many efforts.I did that on a Liebherr R965 excavator back a few years ago and it give the model a way more respectable look. Cat 245.....Now and Forever  I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built.Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.

There store seemed to have a big stock of different colors and thicknesses. Unfortunately, the thinnest they seem to for have for any color other than clear is .125", but for clear, they have down to .040". If you plan on adding color for tint, Tamiya transparent paint and you should be do the trick. I've never ordered online, but my in-store experience was good.

Here's a Custom 953 Demo loader I built a few years ago, using First Gear 175C undercarriage, tracks and bucket. also I a scratch built window guard and rear counterweight/guard,    Added working Cylinders to the bucket (First gear didn't include them in the donor model) from a D5G ripper  Guarding under construction:  The prototype concept: (973, not 953...)
