Here is the crane, 99.5% completed. I still have to touch paint chips on the counterweights, add 12.3 ton decals on the frame counterweights, and glue one Liebherr placard (plastic pins broke during disassembly) on the left side of the boom. But I wanted to take advantage of a sunny day here for that pictures session as it's been snowing and cloudy all week.... As you can see, I took the freedom of making a hook in Weldex livery with the original NZG hook, even if I don't believe they have Liebherr hook painted that way. I always prefer those from YCC on my cranes. I also made a custom brass exhaust pipe, my trademark on 1:50 custom models "/> "/> You can browse the whole picture session here: LR1300More pictures to come, on the dio, with details corrected. Very nice! The weathering on the tracks look nice and not over-done.

It looks great. Looks like one of the liveries that NZG should have done! Along with bay crane.

Ok Stephane, how difficult was this model to repaint? I am staring at a yellow one right now, wondering how tough it is to take the house apart. Thank you

It sure is more tricky than a Conrad model, but if you already have some model painting experience, you shoud do well.
The Cab has lots of detailed plastric parts and some parts of the boom have too. Fortunately the shaves are metal and I was able to unpaint without removing all the pins.
Still, there are hidden tiny plastic parts and you must be careful not to have them melting with the remover.
If you go ahead with your project, send me a PM and I will give you a few tips. I first suggest to have a few containers around for the tiny parts. Also, keep a camera handy and take pictures prior to disassembly when going through the carbody, cab, side doors and cable drum mechanisms, and sheaves aligment on the boom tips, especially if you are not a crane operator yourself. Over several weeks, it's easy to forget about the way everyting goes together.
That's an awesome high quality and detailed model, really worth the investment. :d/

And thanks for all the nice comments. Hope you appreciated.
I will eventually add etched walkways on the first boom section, likely scratch built from HO scale etched brass sheets. Also maybe make plastic ladders on each side, since I haven't found some in die cast that I was satisfied with.

Great work Stephane Sorry, I missed your earlier post. It has gone from a photo to a real model and with the anchor chain too!.

Thank you Stephane. I will be sure to take lots of photos. I was most concerned about taking apart the house, but it looks manageable. I hope to get it stripped in the next few weeks and paint in the spring.

Wish I could share the beer with you but best I can do is to thank you for all pictures I requested from you. You happen to know well what I am interrested in, so do not hesitate to post more pictures on the forum if more action is going on around your port. You make excellent photos and they're worth looking. Stephane

Brandon, what livery do you intend to do for repaint, by the way? More dio pictures of the LR1300 on my Flick'r Album: Weldex LR1300 in dioStephane

We had an LR1300 in our fleet and it was a phenomenal machine. The hoisting capacities, the ease of assembly and disassembly, not to mention the transportability that makes it much easier than Manitowoc machines. Your work on the crane looks great. I also like the dio you set up. Great work!

Part of the hobby for me includes lots of observation/videos/pictures either on the web or in the real life (I happen to travel a lot for my work). And I do the same for trains. I like doing stuff that's realistic, not only for the accuracy of the model to the real one, but also the way it is showing in a dio. And that's also why I like to make details and accessories too so it makes it even more relevant. Here's my November project (HO scale). That loco is rented by a pulp and paper mill downtown. Pictures are from my home layout which is in progress, but I will eventually add club pictures in my Flick'r album too. I must post these on The Diesel Detailer too.
