Stumbled across this neat 951. Enjoy.

I think Richie is right. Not a 951 but i do not know.. Look at the slopped hood, and how rounded off it is ,and the cab design. The slopped hood looks like a Fiat FL10,but the under carriage is Cat. I think we need help

Hi!! At the beginning, i was sceptical about this machine being a 951 for real, because of the way the bucket tilt cylinders are set-up- i mean the cylinders mounted on the tractor frame, instead of being mounted on the boom, like i saw on every 951's i saw(mostly on pictures.....) but upon browsing the net, i found a few more set-up that way, including this one..... http://heavycherry.com/imgs/a/a/e/i/q/cat__951a_1980_1_lgw.jpgOf course, this one is NOT a 1980 model, but one of the earliest ones(The 951 got introduced in the U.S. in 1967 and one year later in Europe, acording to RitchieWiki. This cab looks like the machine is fcoming from Europe, many european machines having weird style cabs. That makes me wonder why Cat introduced the 951 when they already had the 955 wich is a very similar machine in many aspects.....anyone knows?? I gotta admit, i never operated a 951 and i only spent an hour or so on a 955 so if i had a chance to try both machines, maybe i would understand better the difference between both machines. Whoever restored this 951 definitely has something to be proud of. Thanks for sharing. Max.
Cat 245.....Now and Forever I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built. Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.

I ran a 951B a bit in 1969. It had a flat hood and walk through operators compartment. Hence I believe that this machine is a year or two older at a minimum. For many years the Cat line of loaders consisted of the 933, 955 and 977 machines. I have never seen an a 951 in the metal. The machine pictured must have been discontinued about the time the "K" series arrived in the 955 and 977 series.
