It would be good if you could buy the R960 model in just one configuration and for me that would be the stick and bucket.

Maybe we can hope for an R960 SME considering the stick, bucket and main upperworks can be utilized. The added counterweight is an easy fix, but a proper model would require a completely different undercarriage and boom.

I will hope though.

I like the idea of different boom options. I have just put the R960 on my want list.

My R960 arrived today and it is a brilliant model!

The robust feel of a Conrad model with the added incredible detail!

Only couple of things...

Why do Conrad still use plastic pins for the booms etc, would have been nice to have a more secure metal pin
And the picture on the box of the digging boom shows it with a quick hitch which it does not have (would have been a nice extra touch)

Although I must say those points do not detract from the model at all, it's a brilliant piece.

Just saw a comparison of the 960 to WSI 970 SME and from the pic it looks like Conrad has surpassed WSI in the detail dept. Would be nice to see them continuing this to the rest of their models.

Im not sure if they have passed WSI but they have definitely upped their game in the detail department, and very well.

Here are some pics, i dont have the 970 (Yet anyway!) but i took a couple with my WSI 870

Great photos Sam and they really show what a good job Conrad have done.

What a shame Conrad weren't able to do the R970......

Thanks for the pics! Very nice indeed! Im wondering if Liebherr will have Conrad put more detail into the updates for further excavators?

I'm looking forward to seeing more conrad models... If they keep to the same standard they have with this they will jump up alongside WSI, NZG, etc but will also have that robust and functional aspect!

Its a winner if you ask me!!

Looks fantastic! How does the cab tilt hold in place? Is there a little cylinder in there to keep it angled or is it just a pivot pin?

These look very nice, I like the stands for the booms. I wonder if Conrad will now discontinue the 954 BW then?

I like it a lot. The connections of the hoses to the cylinders are cheesy though.
I'll be getting it from Europe soon Smiley

The cab is held by a small cylinder.

I got my model today.Surely a great progress compared to the 954bv.

If I'm honest, I was disappointed with the WSI R970. The detail is good and it looks good but for me it just doesn't have the weight and quality of Conrad. The slackness in the boom of my 970 is also a big turn-off for me.

I would very much like the R960 but can't justify buying this version with the long reach just to get the excavator so hopefully as mentioned we'll see an excavator version on its own.

Mine came in today, together with the R926 Compact. Both are beautiful models, and Conrad did a great job on them.

Minor flaws on the R960:
- Digging boom bucket is very small. Even smaller than the digging bucket on the R954C, so I'll change that to a bigger bucket.
- Quickcoupler on the HRD boom is a monstrosity. It would have been better if Conrad had used the quickcoupler of the newer R954B's. But it's totally different, so the older tools won't fit the model. I'm probably going to change it to a NZG R944C Tunnel oilquick quickcoupler.

Other than that, wonderful model!

Would you mind posting pictures of the quick attach? I couldn't find any decent photo of it.

Thanks for the precision Jan!

Here you go...

I've already changed it for the coupler from the R944C Tunnel. Looks much better.

The digging boom has been fitted with a Refotech Likufix quickcoupler. Here it is with the XR50 Xcentric Ripper from Gaz. A Labounty MSD 3000 will also fit, as well as a bunch of my other attachments. An Atlas Copco HB 7000 hammer from Nigel Paine is currently under modification. I'll also be starting on a dedicated short Heavy Duty boom to carry 5 or 6 ton tools.

Model fitted with Gjerstad bucket from Gaz Evans. I have already modified a Case CX800 bucket to fit the quickcoupler As well.

One thing I noticed while changing the quickcoupler on the HRD boom is that the stick of the HRD is not made out of metal like the boom, but some form of resin. I only saw this when trimming down the front of the stick a bit to make the coupler fit though. Otherwise you can't notice the difference.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone has the 926 and would be willing to give me a quick review? I'm thinking of buying one but wanted to see what you guys thought of the model first. Thanks.
