Holy Smokes. Look at this beast. My question is why so much support for just 70 tons? This is really a 3x3x2 isn't it? I don't understand weight distribution. And is it not true that the rear stinger cannot move up or down? https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_OksRNTdAxA

Well 70 tons is a lot of weight going down the road, it takes a pretty stout trailer to hold that up. A lot of states will only allow 20,000 per axle and it hard to get 20,000 to the steer. So with that trailer you could gross between 232,000 and 240,000 in a lot of states. He probably tare's close to 80,000 empty maybe more (with my 9 axle and daycab Western Star I'm a little over 60,000) so that trailer is about right. As far as the stinger goes, that's a "west coast" trailer so the stinger goes up and down relative to the 3 axles on the main trailer. They are tied together on a common frame, the rear of the trailer set's on a set of trunnions between the rear axles. The rear two sets of axles split the weight. This is a far superior set up to an "east coast" stinger style setup.

That's a good looking set up. I'm not a fan of the flat top on lowboys, mainly because of height restrictions. A 988H sitting on our Aspen 3x3x2 is just under 16 feet tall. It would be close to 18 feet or a tad more on that trailer. I'd like for First Gear to add a jeep and booster to their Talbert set up.
