Thinking about building display cabinet. I have an area 96 inches high by 16 feet long. I have access to glass. I can make the frame work. Ilooked at metal framed I like the 'warmth' of wood for the frame with reinforcement from metal. I googled cabinets but didn't see any as big as I would like, also been looking at actual displays at stores. anyone try this or have pics of actual cabinets. I had thought of mirror backs now I am thinking of a mural. These cabinets will be for the crawler cranes. I do not have exp. with glass being this big-high so I'm curious what some have for exp. Planning for winter project I have all the big Manitowocs.so want to keep them clean and neat.

This is mine that was built a few years ago for me. It was made to measure for a space that it was originally in.

There isn't much I would change, thought the quality of workmanship could have been better, but then I am just picky!

I like having the glass shelves for the trucks and cranes in transport but also room in front for cranes to be built up.

But I have since moved house and I have a room for models so had these made for the cranes:

SDBOB, Good luck with your project! It would be great if your could post a bit on building your cabinet. I have wanted to build one with glass enclosure for some time now. I went to some Amish furniture stores in Northern Indiana and saw some curio cabinets that would work well (and made very nice!) but the prices are in the thousands, I would like to build a cabinet for a price in the hundreds of dollars.

I remember seeing a post somewhere about peoples cabinets. I did a search on here but can't find it so it may have been on Facebook.

At the moment I have some generic cabinets bought flatpacked but would love to build something up to my own design to house everything.

If you do make a start if would be good to see a build in progress thread.
