I am sad to inform everyone that forum member Dan Dobat (DanielD) passed away on April 24th, 2015. Dan had been hospitalized for the last couple of months due to illness. Dan was well known for his custom scratched built lowboys and Northwest construction equipment. Dan had built a model Talbert Trailer (#1)for me, and is one of my favorites. He was a good friend and will be missed. Please see the link below. Ken Wheeler

I still have the email from Dan when he told me about his illness...
We were planning another project to work on together, but it was not to be. Dan was a true gentleman, and a credit to this hobby. He will be missed.
Godspeed Dan.

We at DHS are very sad to hear this news. Dan was a great friend of DHS and made it to many Open House's over the years. His model making skills are well known and we shared many a laugh and had many good times talking about scale model collecting.

We will miss Dan!

Sorry to hear, but he will live on in the hearts and memories of those he touched!!

I'm a kid at heart, so I will play with any model construction vehicle from 1:87 scale to 1:1 scale!!!!

I don't know how I missed this post, but I did. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Dan several times at the Open houses. He always had an idea or suggestion when talking about models or dioramas. He was a fantastic model builder, and a true Gentleman. I am so very sorry to learn of his passing, and so very greatful to have met him and learned from him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time. May Dan Rest In Eternal Peace.

I just found out that Mr. Dan Dobat has passed away! I was totally unaware! I just happened to go on the Lounge section of the DHS forum, and was surprised to read that he passed, due to illness, on April 24th. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from him in some time, as he would contact me via email. Also, Mr. Dobat has also contributed to the first book chronicling the history of Northwest Engineering Company, authored by Mr. Matt Folsom and I.

I am sorry to hear of his passing. I had been sharing with him the progress of my model of the Northwest 190-DA, and he had been sharing with me his custom models. I had also met him at one of the HCEA conventions, a very nice gentleman. He will be missed.

I can't believe I missed this. He was a incredible builder. I loved his Manitowoc 777 build. I spent hours talking to him about it. Have a base model set aside just for this project. I'm now running a 777, and hoped to have him help me threw this project. He will be truly missed.

R.I.P brother
