Hello! Haven't posted here in a while, but knowing there are a few folk interested in big mining stuff, here's a Demag 485 that I've customised. I'm still adding a few other bits and bobs, but it's basically done. Cheers, Jamie "/> "/>

Jamie,
It's looking great! I'm really hoping you'll add the supply and return lines to the stick and bucket cylinders as you have the booms? The only other details I see noticeably missing are the ladder on the back of the cab to reach the observation platform/cab roof and the hydraulic lines in the undercarriage from the propel motors to the car body.
And when can I send my model to you for the same treatment? Seriously; PM me.

Thanks, and yes Weserhutte, you've spotted the missing items. I will do the ladder and the undercarriage connectors. I'll also make a few fire units and extinguishers, and some extra work lights. I might stick a few warning stickers around too. As for the extra hydraulics, I'm not sure I've got the patience!

Aye by the time I get around to doing some of these same detail jobs like you've done, it'll be old news lol. I've got the Komatsu and have wanted, from day one, to improve its quality with some super detailing.
Yours look great as usual....helpful to inspire me lol.

Funny....I always preferred the Demag version. Alas, I couldn't live with myself if I traded or sold it, as it is one of my favorites and so easy to find. I don't think I'll get the ByMo one.....that is, if they ever are produced. The price I paid on the 485 was the original one....a good bit less than what they go for currently.
Sorry. I'm sure one of them would fit well into your collection.

Words can't describe how awesome that looks. Nice work! "It's O-gauge or no gauge..."

Thanks. I shall keep my eyes peeled for a white or Komatsu version. I'd love to do a full repaint and detail of one sometime - anyone got any pictures of a real 485 in white or blue, or any other different colours?

I know this has nothing to do about the Beautiful work you've done to the H485S but I noticed the H185 in the background. Is there a post about what you've done to it? And was there ever a 1/50 H185 backhoe?

Looks like all my pics have gone from old posts - photobucket was being silly. I'll see if I can find some pics somewhere, but if you google NZG Demag 185, you'll see a few pics of a white model I also modified. There might be some pics on the UK webiste scaleplantandconstruction

The stick and bucket cylinders are preparing a discrimination order against you! You may be forced to do it against your will.
Being serious; I wish I had the talent to do what you do, and look forward to what you come up with next.

Back 15 or so years ago, BRI was offering a backhoe attachment for the H485, for at least twice the price the entire model was going for!!! Once again, Jamie you did a hell of a nice work on that one. It always amazes me to see how much of a difference a few small details can do on a model.Congratulations. Max.
Cat 245.....Now and Forever I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built. Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.
