Here a few pictures of my CFD fire truck collection. I have 1/87, 1/50, 1/43, and 1/34 scales. CFD had a large Civil Defense (Fire and Rescue) that were volunteers up untill the 1960-1970's. The Firefighters Union wanted all full time employees, and the Civil Defense System was replaced by FEMA. The ambulance and engine in front of the fire house on the bottom, (Real House is located behind Cub's Wrigley Field) has the same unit numbers as the real ones assigned there. Chicago has some unique equipment in its fleet, and I have 4-5 customs lined up to finish, including a roll off truck with Special Operation containers "pods" and a sewer vacuum truck for sand and dirt cave-ins. Ken,
That is a great collection! I didn't know about the CD fleet. How many of your CFD trucks are 1:50? I've got the 2 Athearn Fords, the Corgi Mack, and the Corgi Seagrave. I also have one of the O'Hare Oshkosh units. I've got the GMC fishbowl bus, but it's in CTA colors.
Thanks for sharing. I'm glad to see there were so many models commissioned before the city decided to stop doing so for free.

Catom Trucking Inc. www,catomtrucking.com Catom Trucking on face book.
28 years, give or take first as an owner operator and then a company driver. I also had my truck leased to White Brothers Inc. and Jack Gray Transport.

Here is a small switch engine I hauled around 1995 or so.

Thanks John. I have 14, including a O'Hare Striker and another 4-5 on the work bench. Most are 1950's, 60's, 70's, and are Macks. I lucked out and picked up the Academy Bus for just a few bucks at an auction. You have a good find with a CTA fishbowl! I have a pretty good size Chicago area truck collection in various scales. Ken
