I got a toy like this for Christmas about 1947. It quickly became my favorite toy forever. I always asked Santa for a Doepke or Model toy, but they were way out of my parents budget. I started collecting models in about 1970, and never came across one until about five years ago. Do not remember where or the price. It must have been reasonable or I would have marked the price down. I have only seen one other one since I purchased this one. I believe the toy was made by a company in Indianapolis, Indiana. If anyone has an other info on this shovel, PLEASE pass it.

Hi Dave,

According to an e-bay search.

This Shovel is from the 1940's . Made by Sparks,Bourne & Handy USA. Doing a bit more digging...

Yup,you're right. Indianapolis, Indiana.

They also made a Clam Shell Crane & girls oven.

I'd also like to know what is that small Cat 521 next to it?

Looks like a HO or HotWheels...?

It's 545. And it's 1:50 scale. Shows how big the shovel actually is

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

The yellow thing is a Cat545 log skidder. I do not remember the maker. If memory servers me right, he was from Alabama. I have had for three or four years. Do not follow what you are seeing that looks like hot wheels. Do a little better describing the item and I can answer it.
