Hey guys!
So today I had this bright idea to complete the equipment lineup used by the Hoffman Crew from the show Gold Rush. Only problem is the last piece of equipment I need is the wash plant, Monster Red. I just have a few questions for any of you fans of the show out there and some for the experienced builders.

1. Does anyone have any good pictures of the wash plant? I have found a few decent ones on google and the MSI website but could always use more.

2. Does anyone know dimensions of the real plant?
3. What would be the best material to build something like this out of? Styrene?
4. How could I build the conveyor belts? What would I even use for those? Obviously some kind of rubber belt but where can I find that?
5. Has anyone built something like this? If so I would like to see it.

Thanks for any information and I will keep you all updated with my progress!!

#3, yes styrene would be best as you can get tubes, strips and sheets and also sheets that are diamond plate and also textured like the riffles.

#4, for the conveyor belts you can use robber bands (but they are usually the wrong color) or use cut pieces of Tire tubes. Bicycle tube would be the best, you can cut them across the tube to make bands or cut them to double the length and then use rubber cement and glue together to make a belt.

As far as the other stuff I have no info on it but hope my info helps. Also if you use styrene go to Hobbylinc and get it, they have the best prices and also have great service too!!!

I'm a kid at heart, so I will play with any model construction vehicle from 1:87 scale to 1:1 scale!!!!

Age is a state of time NOT a state of mind!!

Hi

#3 : I would prefer styrene from evergreen.

#4 : For conveyor belts I have taken vinyl - tape from 3M in black color for my tunneling machine. They are self adhesive on one side....and in my opinion they look very good as conveyor - belts......

Some conveyors ( and more ) you can see on my scratch built tunneling - machine from the gotthard - basetunnel in scale 1:50.

Pics are in the thread "TBM`s" here in the forum.

Best regards

Absolutely! Good luck with it.

Also, Plastruct makes preassembled stairs, stair railings, and walkway/platform railings in all scales.

P.S. Where do you plan to locate the 1:50 gold nuggets? Teeth Teeth
