If you disassemble the models can Bob be removed from the seat or is he molded to the seat?

He seemed easy to remove from the 259d and 420f. I think some of the newer models it’s an option to remove him.

Thanks for the reply. The ones I'm interested are the D8T, D9T, D7E Pipeline and 555D.

Claus, they are in some cases glued to the seat if you gently wiggle it back and forth it should come loose and go easy where the hands are attached to the joy sticks so you don’t break them. I have a couple of Bobs missing some hands but you can just transform them into inspectors for the site, sitting in the back of a the F250s. Also you should get a black fine tipped sharpie to go over the areas on the seat and joy sticks were Bob has come unglued.

Hopefully DM will continue the trend with new models and the D7E pipeline will have easy access to add or remove Bob from the seat. It took a little work but I was able to remove him from my D9T.

'Bob' is fairly easy to remove from the seat.Getting the cab off,may require unscrewing a lot of parts. The 335 needed, the undercarriage to be removed to get to the body then the boom arm had to be taken off to get to the screws, for the cab,As they are all assembled differently. Its worth it,though.Machines look so much better without him in the cab.I really like the 745,as he is optional.

I hope they learned that "Bob" was a big mistake. He is silly looking. If you wanted to put a figure inside, one of the Preiser type figures would have been better. None at all is better though. CAW

I think the worst thing about Bob is He has a glossy finish. I prefer my machines displayed on lowboys so no operator at all works better for me but if I were to use them I like Arttista painted pewter figures.

Diecast Masters is giving model collectors better options to put Bob in or leave Bob out. What I mean is, the new Cat 323, the top of the cab comes off so you can add him or leave him out, same as the Cat 320 and I think Cat 320 GC also the Cat 745, and I think even the new Cat series graders they came out with. I know the the Cat 14m3 grader is also the same way and the new Cat D7E pipeline dozer also has the top of the cab to pop off and add Bob or not. So thank you Diecast Masters for making Bob optional on most of your new models. One new model I am not sure about is the new Cat 963K track loader, I think you would have to take the cab loose to remove him on this one.

I think that is the best way,for it to be optional whether 'Bob' is in the cab,or not. That way display options are not limited, the size of the machine with a driver, would still work,AND the OEM would still have the final say.Smile
