Always loved the Demag H55.Possibly,my favourite excavator model,in my collection.Have since added ISM tracks, and a Liebherr 954b undercarriage.Just got to find a matching paint, and it will be finished. That looks great, with the added rails, and pipes. What tracks did you use?

What tracks did you use? Those are conrad 11mm double grouser tracks. The colour is RAL 1007.You can also take Revell yellow No. 310

Thought those tracks looked robust, like Conrad manufacturing. They look really good. Thanks for the RAL code. Now I have two reasons to get that particular yellow. It is the same yellow as IMC ballast trucks.

janh wrote:custom fitted metal tracks, new hydraulic lines, new teeth on the bucket, front cab guard added, all new brass railings and plenty of details added ready for quarry work again The model looks fantastic! I wish I had a fraction of your talent and patience. What tracks did you use? I see that you made some new idlers and drilled them so you could mount the tracks then tension them and put the axle pin in to hold them in place. I honestly cannot see how you covered the holes both inside and outside so seamlessly. Was it just filler material and then paint over it?

The idler is mounted inside a moveable frame. This is why you don´t see the pin. That frame does have a spring inside to keep the tracks under tension.Just like on any other modern excavator model with metal tracks.

Nice work, JANH, looks very realistic!! Max.
Cat 245.....Now and Forever I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built. Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Jan,
I've just purchased a DEMAG H55 and your custom makes me curious. Just how did you do this trick with the track tensioners? I hope you have made any work in prgress photos. Same for the hydraulic piping.
Cheers,
Max
