Looking for some background info on these 3 models because I am curious.
I see them pop up sometimes for extreme prices , what is so special about them ??
It is very clear that it is a O&K l651 , even the box is original O&K from NZG.
But they are sold as An American from Chelsea marine and a Northwest from Harrison.
They do not look even a bit like an American or a Northwest , so why would someone buy them.
There is also a shovel DuBOIS BROS black and red colors.
Who made these models ? , is it an original NZG paint scheme.
Or did someone made a series of repaints an if so who did this ?
Is it a very limited amount that makes sort of special and are there more colors.
I always wondered if I saw them , so who's got some more info ??
Asked the same question on FB some time ago , but not much of an answer , so ithought i go to real experts Teeth

Edit : in the mean time i found 2 at a german dealer , he is talking about limitid to 50 pieces , and 1500 euro !! 😳😳.
But he is not talking about a Northwest but only Harrison Co.
And the DuBOIS BROS Shovel that is also limitid to 50 pieces according to his info.

Hi Eef,

I'm happy to share the little bit that I know. All three of these pieces were commissioned from NZG by Gerhard and Elizabeth Klarwasser who ran a business named Toys for Collectors in Massachusetts at the time. Somewhere I'm certain I have the original advertisements for these from 20+ years ago which state the number produced, but I do not have time to search for them.

For what it's worth, I can tell you that in 2015 they sold for £80 each at the Vectis auction.

The only thing I know about these models is that I remember having seen advertisements for selling them when they were produced.

And I am one owner of the Dubois shovel....

I'll have to find out old selling catalogues to find out more.

Regards

Greg

Eef,

You can easily confirm what I posted is factual if you simply register on their site. Then you can review past auctions and view the prices realized. I am a registered bidder with the company and did participate in that auction (and picked up several pieces) but DID NOT bid on those travesties! I cannot imagine any "real" equipment fan who would put money into such farces, but that's just me.
