Hi Guy,

this factory fresh - or recently restaurated? - Berliet GBO is on its way to the Bac-au-Sable event, right? Thats what I love about France, when you hit ther road with a classic truck, which is not that fast like its modern counterparts, all the other truck- and cardrivers treat you with alot of repsect, enthusiasm and support. Well, I only have whitnessed the classic truck meet in the region of l'Alsace-Lorrain, but the reaction was so different and positive I vividly remeber it.

Happy Easter to you all,
Max

Max,

Many thanks for your positive comment about French vintage trucks collection.
I never had the opportunity to attend the famous yearly "Bac à Sable" (sand pit) gathering in Leonart quarry site in Alsace: you're probably living closer from there than I am down here on the Mediterranean coast), but I have seen many pictures of it.

Just for the fun, a 6 minutes video showing quite a lot of old trucks participating in 2016 to that event: https://youtu.be/FfMvys7qjv8

Happy Easter to you as well!
Guy

Guy love your Renault models and glad to see you post pictures of the Volvo’s used over here in our neck of the woods, I think The Q, Claus and I are the only Volvo fans here in the States. I believe Ken may also be coming over to the Volvo side he just refuses to admit it.

Guy the liquid asphalt truck is a nice looking unit, I’m assuming all scratch built.

Steve,

The Magirus-Deutz liquid asphalt truck was produced by Conrad in very limited series, apparently: when I first saw it, I thought that it was just the fitting of a Minitrucks body on a Conrad mixer chassis but its asphalt body seems slightly different from the Minitrucks product.
Here below pictures of both products, the Minitrucks model (100% in resin and produced for Procar, on the left) and its Conrad counterpart (right picture):

Not the best pictures for comparison, I agree, but looking closely on both models, one can find minor differences.

Jean-Jacques got it, for a good price, from the Angego retail Manager when he was selling models from his own collection.

I hope it helps.

Guy thanks for the pictures and information, I have never seen either of those tanks before that’s why I figured it was scratch built.

Two combinations in Jean-Paul's fleet. The tanker semi is from Corgi while the 2-axle flatbed was originally an old French Dinky unit:

In addition to the 1/50 Volkner Mobil luxurious motorhome, presented here some time earlier, Siku offered in the same scale a more affordable unit, produced by the German specialist Hymer:

Gege, another member of the Azur Modelisme team, was looking for a 8x8 chassis for his mods: he went for the Mammoet South African unit and reassembled on a spare 6x4 tractor chassis he had, all unused bits and pieces (cab, technical tower, ballast box, etc).
That unique "WSI model" has since ended in Jean-Paul's collection:
