Hey all,

I've long been wanting to do a triple axle, sleeper cab tractor. The options that come to my mind are:

1) Stretch a Sword/WSI triple axle and graft on a sleeper from a suitable donor.
2) Splice the rear frame with triple axles onto the front frame of a sleeper tractor.

I'm sure there are other options. Has anyone done this? If so, would you care to share your build?

Thanks!

Rob

Rob, I put a ASAM flat top sleeper on a Sword Pete years ago .Looks really good. Mine is a tandem but there is room to put the 3rd axle back on if desired. In looking at it it would be fairly easy to splice frames because you could “use” the white metal sleeper as a structural member. Think I even have a couple extra sleepers around.

Thanks guys, some interesting options. Time to start collecting some 1:1 measurements!

I always wondered if the sleeper off the WSI Kenworth C500B could be added to a Sword or WSI T800W. It’s the right style but I don’t know if it’s cast on to the cab on the C500B or a separate piece

If the Aussie Drake C509's are an option they are dead easy to convert to tri-drive . Remove the rearmost fuel tanks and the 3rd axle slips nicely in the hole .
Blue is std truck , yellow is the tri-drive mod .

Claus I made the Western Star into a dump truck and I had to remove the cab from the sleeper with a dremel cut off blade. I believe that the C500B is the same, I have one but left it as a tractor.
