Hello collector friends, I do not know how many of you would agree that ccm build a 980c cat or a 980F cat, I think they are a model that we are missing in our collection I have spoken to Gary peterson on this subject, He replied that it could be a very risky project because perhaps these models are not successful. I want to leave a question in the air, Would a cat 980C or cat 980F 1/48 scale wheel loader be acceptable?

Hi Cat955K,
generally spoken, the 980C/F is an attractive and interesting machine. But considering that there was a very successful CCM model, the 988, I would think a 988B/C/F is the better choice. You could have a nice couple like the 992B - 992C models. But maybe, it's just my personal taste. The 980C and 988B are not too far away sizewise, but I would go for the 988B.
Best regards, Max

Just my opinion, based on my analysis of CCM's trend. I'd say it's more likely we'll see a 988B as their next loader. They like to compliment other models in their lineup to give collectors some continuity. Examples are: 992B-988, D9H-D8K-D7G, 631/37E-651/57E. The 992C needs a buddy. But yes, I'd love to see a 980C as well. I think we'll see a 235 as their next vintage excavator.

It would be absolutely nice when we see a Cat 980 C or a Cat 966C one of the best Loader Caterpillar build. A 988B or F did we have from NZG and i think that´s enough. Time for a new one

Time for a new one The F from NZG was just a re-labeled B. Whereas the real F has a larger ROP and widened hood/radiator. They're decent models, don't get me wrong, but out of date and not entirely accurate. CCM has already reproduced a few models that exist on the market in vintage forms, I'm sure they will do more. I agree, a 966C would be sweet.

Yes, 988 and 983 have been made by NZG before and they have been one of the most successful CCM models so far. A 966C would be super-sweet! I have visited Cameroon back in 2018 and it's by far the most used loader in this country. It even is depicted on their 1000 XFA banknote. I guess it's similar in many other tropical nations, too. And there was even a version with a ripper mounted to a 966, don't know if this was a C, though.
Cheers, Max

I think if someday ccm builds a 966c cat, possibly it would do it in 1/24 scale and in brass, I don't think it will do it in 1/48 scale. Wouldn't get as many benefits as the 988B cat, for example
