Here's a new project started a little while ago. I had bought an old Demag H485 a few years ago with a broken track frame and two snapped pistons. It was a white one and was sitting in bits in a box under my desk for ages. I finally decided to do something about it! I bent back and bolted the track frame, added some detail to various bits and bobs, made new railings and added the electric cable reel etc. I can't do photobucket any more, so can put one picture up here from flickr. Any other ways to upload photos here? I'd like to post progress pics to show some of the stages. Here it is so far

Thanks Paul. My Flickr page is meant to be just finished models, so would like a way of uploading progress pics.

Looking sweet! Didn't realise it was such a big machine. These days you have to pay for image hotlinking (well, anything that's worth using) but it's inexpensive. I've been using imageshack.com for years now and whilst far from perfect I think it's one of the best sites for simple image hosting. Since I post on numerous forums and often share images I figured I could justify paying money to have good quality and reliable image hosting. I'm paying $19 a year, which works out at a little over £2 a month. They still have the images that I uploaded eight years ago, so that's saying something.

Jamie, I clicked on the link you posted, right-clicked on the photo, then left-clicked on "copy image address" and pasted it in between "img" and "/img" in brackets.

Masterful! Absolutely cracking job Jamie. The last two photos could easily pass for the real machine.

That sure is some beautiful work there Jamie. Great detail and paint job. Was wondering about the tracks.Does Bymo offer them for sale? Did you have to do much work to get them to fit the model? Mike

Thanks Mike. I bought a few sets about five years ago. They seem to be out of stock now but you could try emailing them. They're excellent tracks and the only thing you need to do is file down the two round sprockets on the Demag - take about 2mm off and they then fit great. They're exactly the right length which is good.

Thanks for the response Jamie. I have one of those models that I put away some time ago. Always thought about customizing it, as it is such a plain model. Did you find it difficult to find the schematics for all the hydraulic lines and other details? Thanks for the inspiration. Mike
