Another fine model Greg! I especially like the blankets on the cylinders. Ken

There is another crossing in the next year as they are going to use a D6. Not sure what type of D6 and pefix as a HEUI or Comon Rail won't like the cold and would be pretty complex to repair out in the blizzard. They are wanting a full time mechanic or two to be part of the team. No pay from the job posting sent out within Finning but your time is a part of science experiement. Might as well work through out Northern Canada and get paid!

Stunning as always Greg. They are great looking machines and those decals are so crisp. Does anyone know how many of those D7H's are running around now?

EDIT: I just found this...

One of the many differences working in Antarctica is the different types of transport options that are required just to get about your normal working day. Some are quite obvious, from the strikingly photogenic Hagglunds all-terrain vehicle, the 4 wheel drive quad motorbikes with ice-studs in the tyres, and the D7H Traverse dozer (one of only 2 models in the world), but some of the simpler transport options are often overlooked.

I have been working on a D7H LGP Traverse Special for a while seeing these photos will motivate me to finish it, I think only 4 or 5 of these D7H LGP Traverse Specials were build, they have special manual gearboxes build in Japan not power shift (dosen't work well in the sub zero temps and as these are primarily tow tractors towing sleds, 3-4 sleds each with up to 20 ton on each sled and the manual gear boxes are better for this role) , construction D7R LGP down the Antarctic are power shift variant.
The exhaust is a kind of pre heater if you look at the photo of the real machine what looks like a muffler on the pipe is a outer casing open at the bottom the pipe coming off the top of this is the intake the air is drawn up from the bottom warming up over the hot exhaust going into the intake warm

I just bought this model on eBay. I recalled the story, and feel quite blessed to have found it. How many did you make?
