thats an impressive crane, whats amazing to me is those pendant lines running to the hanging counterweights are able to hold almost a million pounds off the ground without breaking, thats crazy!!

Yeah, its a great machine if you look at it from the point of view of performance, capacity, ease of transport, etc. But to be honest, its ugly! The crane body sits way up in the air above those odd shaped crawler units, and the motors and cabin are hanging off one side.

Its just my personal opinion. I became a fan of big cranes because of machines like the Demag CC12000 (not the 12600), which were well proportioned and looked good. The cranes today, and this Liebherr is a prime example, have come about because of improved design capabilities and manufacturing technology and the end result is something that is absolutely fit for its intended use. Unfortunately, to the crane operators fit for puropse is far more important than appearance and looks.

Nice pics I think it's a cool crane but the high center of gravity looks weird to me should be nice and lowslung like the LINKBELT 580 which the housing sits nice. Also the combine cab outta place but more eye pleasing than the cc8800 boxlike shape !

there is no high center of gravity. one meter more or less does not make a difference when you got 100 meters (or 200) of boom.

compare with similar machines and the Liebherr does not sit higher. its just that quick connection that gives that impression.

btw once you climb on that machine you´ll love it Wink

Thank's for the pictures, it's a beautiful crane in my book! If there were a die cast model, I would buy it!

it's a cute little picker but there's nowhere for the oiler to hide.

A couple of views of the CC12000 from a model show in 2005.

On the issue of crane "aesthetics," I agree the 11350 is not an attractive looking crane. When a company is right on the limits of technology - and Liebherr is pushing it with this monster and the LTM 11200 - the beauty factor obviously becomes a non-issue. The LTM is a marvelous piece of engineering and technical innovation, but I prefer the simplicity of the Gottwald carriers (with the understanding that a lattice boom and hydralic boom are birds of a different feather.) The CC8800 is not very eye-pleasing to me either; on the other hand, I really like the Liebherr crawler configuration. That and the 1750s low-slung appearance sold me instantly. For a model buyer, you obviously want something in your house you enjoy looking at. In the real world... Shame on you

PS- I wasn't sure if these photos had appeared previously - the search function on this Forum never works for me...

A few more shots of the 11350 followed by an annoying 11250 which slipped through the cracks and some candids of Japan's 11200...

a bit of a mix here...

the Mammoet is a LR11350

then we got a LR11350 for China, then a LR11250, the number 1 for China as well

and the MIC crane from Japan is a old LR11200, who has nothing in common with the others!

this has long time been done, last year Demag unveiled the Twin CC8800-1 with 3200 tonnes capacity

Manitowoc brings the 31000 with 2300 tons, Lampsin offers 2625 tons on the LTL2600 and Mammoet offers the PTC and MSG50 with 2000+ tons

anything else thats heavier gets lifted my hydraulic jack system and here 10.000, 20.000 or over 30.000 tons is not a problem at all

Yes...excellent eye! I thought the second Chinese crane looked a little "off." Another view of same...
