Hello, I’m new here and my name is Tony, my main interest in diecast cranes in 1/50 scale. Is there any news on the production of a die cast models for the Demag CC8800-1 TWIN or Liebherr LTM 11200? Now these would be some cool models to have! These are on my current list of must have. Tony

I'd be surprised to see these cranes in model form for at least a year. It takes time to bring a model to market. And these cranes were just announced not that long ago.

Tony, Paul R, there shall be a 1/50 model of the Liebherr 11200 next year, but I doubt there will be ever a serial scale model of the CC8800-1 Twin. Regards Rainer

I hope it's Conrad, I wouldn't mind YCC but I know they are out of range for alot of folks. They could pull the same BS! that WSI did with the PTC, advertise it as a WSI product and then farm it out to TWH, NICE!

i think it was a smart move on WSI, i personally like TWH's products, i dont have a problem with any of them and the minor things i have had wrong they replace immediately for me without any grief.
i know YCC puts much greater detail into their models than Conrad but they are just way to expensive for the average collector

If it is YCC I am just going to start saving now then maybe I would have enough saved for when it comes out. I would not mind Conrad though would be cheaper but still a good model though. They could even come out with a boom transportor for the boom also, sell it in a nice set. Jason NIkl Scale Models

Regards Rainer Why the doubt on a Twin 8800 model? You think it is too similar with the existing 8800 and not commercially viable? I for one, would be interested. Something with the quality of the PTC and in that price range.

That comment is I made was not to bad mouth TWH, just my OPINION of how it was put. I would love to see the ROXU livery as well. Mark

Hello and thanks for the response everyone. Paul Crane: “I'd be surprised to see these cranes in model form for at least a year. It takes time to bring a model to market. And these cranes were just announced not that long ago” -----That’s ok with me Paul, I would just like to know their in the pipe line to be made. Rawima(Rainer): “there shall be a 1/50 model of the Liebherr 11200 next year, but I doubt there will be ever a serial scale model of the CC8800-1 Twin.” ----- Cool news, any idea who will make it Rainer? The custom CC8800-1 is ok with me, just need lead-time to save up for it. Hummer13: “Bring on the 11200, I will start saving now for it” ------This model for some reason makes me really excited Jason, I’ve always had a love of model cranes. DeWoc19: “yeah, ill be getting that for sure. hopefully Conrad! they produce nice models for a decent price, if YCC does it i know i wont be able to get one” ------I think Conrad would be a good company too and the YCC I don’t know much about them, but for their one crane they do make. Bigcranes: “I hope it's Conrad, I wouldn't mind YCC but I know they are out of range for alot of folks. They could pull the same BS! that WSI did with the PTC, advertise it as a WSI product and then farm it out to TWH, NICE!” ------ So Bigcranes, what is “WSI” and who did they farm out too “TWH”. So what’s the story behind this? Are models being made in limited editions instead of being mass-produced? I know certain items must be custom because of low demand, but is there price fixing going on? Has TWH had problems in the past Mark? Thanks for the answers, Tony.

Tony, I'm not impressed with the quality on TWH models. The detail is excellent though. The Manitowoc 18000 boom sections have been twisted. The connections on the Manitowoc 16000 boom sections might become loose or break. I'm not aware of any price fixing. Some models are more bang for the $ than others. Models are being both made in limited editions and mass produced. Typically, the more detailed models are made in limited editions. This of course makes them more expensive. Check out the WSI models on DHS. Hope this helps. WSI

Gentlemen, You all do realize that neither TWH nor WSI actually produce the models they sell? Both companies are middle men that contract with production houses in the far east. Randy M. Smolenack RMSmodels@aol.comrandy.m.smolenack@us.army.mil

Randy Can we see some of your models please?
The last few years have shown me just how much the die cast model world has changed. Many a time I have seen people ask if a certain model will be made and lots said it cant be done. It was only 18 months or so ago where 1/50 scale tower cranes were just a dream...now look...two to choose from. I think if the collecters make enough noise pretty much anything will be built which makes for a great (if not expensive) future for us all Regards Andy How to search the forums

Again, not to rain on any body's parade, but model builders only build what they are contracted for! If Demag wants the CC8800 Twin built as a model, they will start the process. The desires of a dozen members on this forum will not influence the model makers to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars. Conrad, NZG, TWH, etc.... all will willing build anything they are contracted to. And the cycle time for a model is way more than 18 months, considering contract negotiations, drawings, hand built prototypes, castings, first, second and third samples, revisions, manufacturing, marketing, pricing, distribution channels, multi continent positions of key players, packaging, customs and distribution. Seems like to me 18 months is a bit of a stretch to do all that, especially for something as complex as a crawler crane. And just because the rumor mill wants it does make it true. How can anyone say they are for sure going to make a model unless the manufacture has been selected? Ah well thats just an opinion.
