Pics from the European Office of Trade Marks and Designs found by members of http://www.autopareri.com/Another reason this forum need a segregated 'mechanical' forum... The new McLaren P11 "According to Autocar, early prototypes of the P11 began shakedown testing in mid-April in preparation for a 2009 unveiling before hitting showrooms in March 2010. The standard P11 will lead the charge with roadster and hi-po versions expected to follow. Power will be provided by a 410kW/550hp V8 that is believed to be based on an existing Mercedes-Benz unit and will be built by Mahle in the UK. If the P11’s V8 power seems a little light-on (it doesn’t to us) then you’ll be pleased to know that there is a P12 version planned. The heart of the P12 will be a 447kW/600hp+ V10 strapped into a lighter re-engineered shell for the ultimate in McLaren performance – possibly the first new McLaren that is worthy of being compared to the original F1. The P12 is likely to have a price tag in excess of £250,000." http://www.themotorreport.com.au/4635/mclaren-p11-supercar-prototype-testing-underway/Late last month... Pics from the European Office of Trade Marks and Designs found by members of Autopareri.com Il portale dell'autoThe McLaren F1 (road car) engine. Personally, the McLaren F1 was revolutionary... I'm sure McLaren is just patterning a general shape however I really hope the new car looks as good as it demands. The F1 was an icon and the McLaren name deserves nothing less than a world beater. Period. They have built big shoes... Fill them! Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

it will feature a revolutionary system that stops the car at red lights by just pushing the middle pedal with your feet, this to avoid accidents like hitting other cars that already stopped before that red light.
Lewis Hamilton tested it personally! thats where the price tag comes from

Believe it or not, I met Bruce McLaren in the late 60's at Wakins Glen. He wae a person that did not talk down to you (Me being a kid). Bruce died testing a proto type car (Mclaren) His other driver was Denny Hume (spelling of his last name is most likely wrong). These guys were a great part of my childhood. Something you never forget. The new Mclarens are beautiful in any regards.

Thats what I am trying to get at, McLaren is a name of history, a focused straight shooter, there arnt many of those left these days. The F1 road car was a legacy, Murray is also working on an eco friendly 'eco car'. Something far away from what this may be... the last of the titans. With petrol prices the way they are, look for more E85+ cars coming stock from the factory... perhaps even a hybrid 400kp/h (250mph) McLaren Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

Chet They only made a couple in this combination, Bugatti have very stringent customer - service regulations. From memory, it costs a flight of 14 people .20/000. UK pounds for the first service. And Once you switch that 'I'm a nutter, lets go **lls deep switch... and drive a car at over 400kp/h" switch, you need to switch out the tyres... specially developed high speed for that car alone (High speed - Michelin from memory). 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

McLaren was a great driver, but also a pre-eminent designer...

Half a million or so. Not that unusual for the top-end high performance cars. I think some of the limited production run Ferraris are in that ball park also...

i don´t like that new Mc Laren from the looks i prefer the Audi R8 or the Koenigsegg CCRX, now this really kicks some ass. and if its red, has been built in Italy and has a Cavallino Rampante on its hood, i love it anyway... and ferrari owns the nicest cranes and heavy haulage trucks of all F1 constructors http://ditzj.de/assets/images/archiv/2008_15_scuderia.jpg

I followed Can Am in the 60's.What about the 'sucker car' built by(Chebie eng),redone by Jim Hall. They put it out of competition because it was so far ahead.Of course the can am series went out of existance also. The McLaren nice. the other I won't spend the million looks strange in the front nose.Perfer the Chapparal 2E

The way the American sports cars have been going, the run out Corvette is getting up into the $76,000+ range. The very powerful and nowhere near the corvette (Like apples & oranges, V10 vs V8?.. Put a V10 in a vette, then we can talk.) Dodge Viper is $90 - 120,000 range.
It's very hard for the wealthy people to decied on fancy sports cars now a days. Do I spend $70k on a corvette, $95k on a viper? Or 110,000 on a Ferrari 360 Modena with a V8.?
American sports cars are getting expensive, while the Italian super cars are beginning to not look so expensive.
The Veyron goes for a little over $1 million USD.
Little info on the Veyron, It is manufactured at a V.W. plant in Germany. VW and Bugatti have worked closely on the project. If you ask me, Porsche is nothing more then a Glorified VW. Bugatti on the other hand is a car all in it's own.
All Riiiight ... Giggidy, giggidy, gig-gi-dy!!

get your facts right
1) VW acquired the rights to the name and brand Bugatti in 1998 2) the Veyron is produced in the Bugatti Factory in Dorlisheim in france, this also partly due out of tradition, since Ettore Bugatti, the original founder, was italian, but produced his cars in Molsheim, france. Thats also the reason why Bugatti feature the traditional french racing colour blue, as opposed to traditional red for Italy on the Alfas, Ferraris, silver for german Auto Union, Mercedes, Porsche and of course Britsh Racing Green like used by Bentley, Aston martin, Lotuis and numerous others legendary names. traditional US racing colours are the white with blue stripes or inversed (Ford GT40 anyone?) 2a) the Veyron was designed by a young guy, age 26, who is now head of design (not catering) of VW daughter Skoda. the dessign of the Veyron has had to be changed several times in detail though due to requirement for safe speed at up to 400 km/h 2b) the Veyron is currently the third fastest road-legal car in the world, but weight around 600 kilos more than number 1 and 2) 3) calling Porsche a glorified VW only proves you never sat in one. period. but: VW´s capital is mainly owned by Porsche and the descendants of the family, not the other way round. actually this is a neverending story in german media these days... Porsche management vs Volkswagen unions 4) Ferdinand Porsche designed the original Volkswagen, and yes, thats where the shape comes from. Voolkswagen meaning "Peoples car", not more not less. The car was developed under Nationalsocialist period as an affordable car for the germans of that time. promoted by Nazi orginazation KdF-Wagen (Kraft durch Freude) a factory was produced more or less in the middle of nowhere, a town around it was founded known today as Wolfsburg, which is still today the headquarters of VW. so the history of VW and Porsche are very tightly woven, but i can assure you, a ride in a 996 GT3 really convinces you that you sit in a full-fashioned supersports car. and even if the Porsche do not break records in top speed and price, to me, they are always in the top cars when it comes to overalll design. chassis, comportment, engine, brakes, acelaration, road handling. Porsche is the most successfull sports and race car constructor worldwide. and this stil has to be beaten. in short: Porsche kicks some ass and you can just shut up.
*soapbox*
