did anyone else have any of these toys from the 80's? i have found one on ebay. i have one of these at the moment and i can confirm at age 25 it is still great fun!!. it has powerfull pushing ability and with a little customising it could be made to look awesome. the detail is very very good and proportions are correct!. anyway, here is what im talking about.... fantastic price for something over 20 years old with the box. the little control dash has a key and the dash lights up when you turn the key on. the exhaust also produces smoke vapour!!!. there is i light bar on the rops structure that also lights up. but this would be better removed for realistic look.it even has individual moving bogies on the tracks!!!!!!!!!! th5s was the this was the ultimate toy when i was a kid and i still think it is a great alternative to the super expensive metal hydraulic models that go for thousands. anyway, here is the dozer.... there was also a 771 dumper,245 backhoe,a 4wd cement truck and a 992 shovel http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-BRIGHT-CATERPILLAR-DOZER-D9L-REMOTE-CONTROL1987-NIB_W0QQitemZ290246047875QQihZ019QQcategoryZ152934QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I received all 4 models, the 992C, 777B, D9L, and 235(I think there may have been a Concrete truck also), when I was just a kid. Nowadays, they are in pretty rough shape and I'm not sure any of them still work. They were great fun to play with(I used shelled corn to load and push around).

I have all 5 in a box, most radio controlled though.Cat name was dropped later versions. They also made a cool aerial fire engine with what looks like a TV remote. That many buttons.New Bright makes lots of nice stuff.Somebody painted the dozer on this forum to look like a highly detailed diecast awhile back, real nice.

I remember that custom job very well, it was awesome. Did anyone save those pictures?

If it wears lipstick or has wheels, it will give you problems.

Yes! It is indeed very nice! Me too, have all 4 models, dozer, wheel loader, dump truck & excavator. Yes, there is a cement mixer too, but didn't buy that, not my favorite though..
mine are all locate in my home town. So unable to show you guy a picture... it is still in its original box. The dozer is very powerful.

That was Chris Bartell who repainted the dozer. It was very impressive in person. You can still find the photos under the Customer Collection Photos.

Oh Man! I used to have the dozer, but it didnt have the key switch on the remote or make any smoke. Played with it for 5 minutes on christmas day, then took it apart to find out how it worked! I think it met its demise during muckshifting for the pond in the back garden, rolled of the top of a heap and ended up at the bottom of a 4' hole with the chassis cracked and broken. Real shame, i loved that toy. Might have to get on ebay and buy one. I was always jealous of my cousin because he had the 992 and that was a beast! Great memories!

The R/C 1/24th scale CAT D11R was made by Matchbox and look great after some modification Chris Bartell originally modified one do build a static standard D11R. They occasionally pop up on Ebay from time to time but are increasingly hard to find. Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator
