Saturday I made a long ride of about 35 miles on my bicycle to visit this construction site near the highway crossing in Kirchheim, germany.
They are building two new Enercon windmills upon a hill right next to the highway.

You could already see the top of the cranes from two miles away from the site.
It was the first time in my live I could see one of the famous big Gottwald cranes.Since Schmidbauer has sold their AK850 to Australia this AK450 from Bracht is the biggest Gottwald that remained in germany.
The site was guarded by security. But as they didn´t work on the site that day I got permission to take a few photos.

The blades for the first wind mill are waiting to be lifted up.

This Liebherr LTM1100 was standing next to the Gottwald to assist.

Lowloaders for the transport of the Gottwald´s parts where standing round the site.

Now,let´s take a walk arounf this beautiful old crane. And keep in mind it was built in 1986!

But it is in excellent condition!

And then I climbed up the hill a little more. The LTM 1500 8.1. was standing next to the second windmill.

Probably had already finished his work, building the tower.
If anybody is interested in detail photos from this crane, please send a pm.

And then it was time to go on the way back home.Tired but finally happy.

Jan,

Do you know who bought the AK850 in Australia?

The AK850 belongs to Wheelers Cranes. They also have a new AC500-2.

Yes,that is the AK850 former Schmidbauer crane.
But I thought the name of the company that bought the crane is "Wheelers cranes".
More photos from the AK850 in Australia here:

So,Universal cranes owns it?Is it a division of Sarens?

Great pics! Thank you for sharing them. You're right, she may be 22 years old, but she still looks great.

Dan

1:1 or 1:50, I am still in awe.
