Here is a picture from today showing me just finishing scaling up the drawings for the upcoming Liebherr R-996 Excavator Model . I also plan to scale up the drawings today for the second excavator model to build this winter of a Cat 385C L Excavator . I have never built a excavator before so these are two cool machines I really like.Monday I will get back to work on the Euclid Heavy Haul Lowboy as I have been two weeks on vacation.

Thanks for the kind words.
I guess the larger the model is , the more realistic it seems to me .
I know that very few collectors are interested in large scale models, but I am just hooked on building them. And if you ever seen one of my monster models in someones collection, they do look pretty unique.
Plus it has to be fun for other people to see something out of the ordinary .
Wait til tomorrow when I post the picture and you get a look at the size of the scaled up plans for the Cat 385CL Excavator in 1/6th scale !!! VERY IMPRESSIVE !!
Maybe we can make this one really work !!!

Don

That is awesome. I look forward to seeing your 385CL. The company I work for just got a new 385CL, which I help put the deal together at the dealer. What a fantastic machine. We double shifted the machine and it moved 500,000 cubic yards in 43 days with only one night of down time!!!

Always enjoy seeing your postings and work.

Regards, Randy

I got it almost done , just to give a idea of it's size, the exhaust stack will be 1-1/2 " dia. steel tubing !!
Now that is some serious sized exhaust for a model, ha,ha.

Hi Don, unfortunately I have some bad news for you. The image you have scaled up is actually of the CAT 345CL, not the 385CL. I understand why this has happened too. When CAT changed all their paint schemes to the new Power Edge logo's, the CAT 385CL brochure was for some reason left with the dimensional image of the 345, no idea why, and it is still like that when you download it.

I saved these a while ago and are the actual dimensional PDF files for both the BL and CL. Hope this helps. To download just follow the links and scroll down toward the bottom of the page, there is a link next to the flashing arrow.

Hi Rowan,
That's very interesting,
Thanks !
Looks like this Sat. I will not be building the bucket after all, ha,ha. Instead I will spend the time scaling up the right 385cl ?
Thanks very much for your help with the right drawings.
