With regard to the original topic; the SK3500 looks to HO scale (or possibly smaller) to me. Look closely at this photo and decide for yourself.

Please use this before clicking "post"??? You may be surprised with what you see!

I see what your saying, but if you look close its sitting with all the other 1/50 scale models, and might be to scale. Mabey alittle smaller, but I dont think HO. (the kobelco)

EDIT- Now I see that it does look small. The cab is tiny for 1/50, along with the carbody.

BTW, Norscot!!!!!!!!!!Applause Applause Applause Applause Anxious WAY TO GO!!! AWSOME MODEL!!!!

I don't know, it looks about 1/50 scale to me, certainly not 1/87 by any means.

If you look at the size of the cab on the small Komatsu hoe behind it, they seem to be about the same size. Look at the Oshkosh truck it's sitting next to, they're almost the same length. The Oshkosh is almost 40" long.

I'm just curious how you figure the carbody looks small for 1/50....you can't even see it.

I see what your saying nowThink Think Think There are 1/43 and 1/50 scale models all mixed around in that pic lol. I guess it looks more 1/50 now that I stared at it for 20 min.Smile Whistle

Only time will tell.

I was comparing the top of the carbody with the other Kobelco behind it, but I soon remembered that one is 1/43 scale.Wink

Not only the correct height, but shape too! As well as the *Cough Cough* cab lights that are now on there, that picture really impresses me, thumbs up norscot!

It is 1:50 scale. It is mentioned on the website. And this model is made by Ken Kraft, which is same maker as the PC200-8 By NZG & Ken Kraft.

I still don't understand how you can compare the carbody size at all. The carbody isn't even visible in the picture.

If you click on the link in Leo-Cat's first post, then click on the new model link in the left hand column, you will see "コベルコSK3500 超大型解体機 1:50 KEN KRAFT" a few lines down the page. Seems pretty self explanatory to me.

personally i love to see that perfect little Kato SR-250R japanese city class crane in the foreground... you can bet one of them will turn into colourful MIC design to help lift mats and stuff for its (rebuilt) CC8800 brother...

Hi guys,

The guys at KenKraft have made a couple of brass models in the past. I saw the current Kobelco SK350DLC demo machine in full brass when I visited KenKraft about a year before they were released by Kobelco. I am assuming with some certainty that their boom was the base for the current model which is made of plastic.

With regards to the SK3500D, the website says that this is a full brass model in 1/50, built by KenKraft for an upcoming show to gauge customer response. I am guessing that Ken has his fingers in a few pies with both Komatsu and Kobelco, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a version of this in the future, released by Kobelco....hopefully in diecast.

I would be thinking that since there are no Kobelco excavator models released in the 1/50 size these days, he would have used the cab off the Diapet or Chinese version of the SK330 in 1/52, which is why it would look a little small. I think the rest of the body looks pretty much to scale...but if you compare the model to the pics of the real machine, I think the cab is a tiny bit smaller than 1/50.

Just my ten cents worth.. Teeth

Cheers,
Craig
