In Europe these days, haulage of farm tractors by a specialized Dutch transport company:

Hello Guy, that's brilliant to see! I had read somewhere that someone thought the Athearn Deere tractors were too small to be 1:50 scale, but your photo shows them to be just right. What do you think? Can you do a side-by-side comparison? Cheers, Jamie. p.s. those Athearn Deeres are very hard to find in the UK! p.p.s Athearn also make a Deere combine harvester in 1:50 which looks like an excellent little model, but which I've seen go for quite high prices on Ebay on the rare occasion one turns up.

Jamiescotland,

Using Tractor Data website infos:
- length of JD 9620R: 695cm, Athearn model: 14cm, which equals to 1/4964,
- width of JD 9620R: 374cm, Athearn model: 7.7cm, which equals to 1/4970,
- length of JD 8430: 556cm, Siku model: 11.50, which equals to 1/4834,
- length of JD 7520: 556cm, Athearn model 11.6cm, which equals to 1/4793.
Athearn JD tractors seem to be in the 1/48-1/50 range.

Pics of the 3 models side-by-side:

For info, the Athearn JD 7700 combine was posted on page 23 of this topic:

I hope it helps.

Oh that's great Guy, thank you!! I would love all of the 1:50 Athearn John Deeres. I've always been interested in farming models, and that's how my model obsession began. I shall have to search for the Athearn models, but I have very little money at the moment. I will do a post on all my 1:50 farming models soon.

Jamiescotland,

The French website "Collect World" have a few Athearn models, all for sale at less than 50 Euros (which, when shipped to UK, should end at a reasonable price): https://www.collect-world.com/fr/bo-miniatures-agricoles-c109/fabricant-88-athearn.html

I hope it helps.

That figure jumps to the 30% mark in the 1/48-1/52 range, thanks to their last repros.

In West-Germany still, with what can be considered as the drop-off box ancestor(*):

Mercedes-Benz Unimog U416T 4x2/2 truck with Ruthmann drop-off chassis (modified Siku model, to be completed) and Ruthmann Cargoloader HD 1050 drop-off sheeted dropside body (Siku element),

Note (*): purists modellers may have noted the lack of consistency of this model. If the rear chassis seems to be 1/48 in width, the front part of the model is fitted with a cab generally found on other Siku 1/55 Unimog units: hence my arbitrary choice of the overall 1/48 scale for that model!

Two classic Conrads there. I have two 175s, one with black arms, one with yellow, but I still don't have the 125.
