These are great ! Do you have any of the avd models ? Theres a big three axle russian dimp truck that I find interesting. Reminds of an old euclid. Was going to buy the kit but would like to get an opinion on the models first. The cable excavator is on my want list too

Brian, Most of Russian models are in a 1/43 scale and there are quite a lot of interesting models available, ready built but as far as I know resin mainly. I'm not collecting 1/43 scale models, but Jean-Jacques does, but he hasn't got any of the AVD models you mention, buy mostly press stand units sold by Hachette and Altaya. I remember posting in 2019 in this topic an Ukranian (ex-USSR) KrAZ 256 6x4 dump truck (that's probably the only ex-USSR vehicle in his collection):  Link to some KrAZ info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KrAZI hope this helps. Brian, I didn't know about AVD Models at all, so I did a bit of search and came with this link: https://www.scalemates.com/fr/search.php?fkSECTION%5B%5D=Kits&q=AVDTheir production is impressive, with vehicles from the other side of the ex-"Iron Curtain", very seldom seen in Western Europe, though. In the 50s, Berliet added an extra-axle to their existing buses, to increase their passengers capacity up to 125. A 3-axle Berliet PBR 10 (modelled by Hachette) at work in Marseille (France):     Regards. Guy

In the passengers transport world still, with a Berliet TLR 10a tractor, modified into a bus recovery vehicle by the RATP (Paris) some 62 years ago later sold to Artis, in charge of bus transport in Arras (Hachette):     Regards. Guy

John, The tow bar is stored inside the rear workshop when not in use. Guy, thank you for the link. No need to apologize for my weakness in your language! I recognized enough of the words, and the pictures were most helpful. I have to admit, the interior of the "workshop" part of the vehicle was less organized than I would have imagined. I was expecting some kind of special compartment for the tow bar, and when you said that it was in a vice, I was thinking more like clamps, "pinces", so when I saw it in the picture, I laughed out loud.
I love the models of vehicles from that era. Growing up in the USA (born 1965) my impressions of Europe were based on movies and Matchbox, and the pictures of your models remind me of those thoughts. I've been fortunate to have visited several times as an adult, and have a much better appreciation of the similarities and differences among here and there.
