A superb bit of work there, Sal! I believe I had one of the original NZGs. I'm not sure of its accuracy, but it was an impressive chunk of iron back then. I would have preferred the excavator/backhoe version instead of a shovel...

I don't know, I think the crane models are much more expensive than the mining stuff.

JustinE,

I do not need things cleared up ! I visited the "Demag" dealer several times while I was working in the Reno, NV area. There were several excavators, shovels, and cranes in the yard. I visited the Demag 485S shovel in the Elko, NV area in the Demag service truck. I grant you it was approximately twenty (20) years ago, but it most certainly was a "Demag" dealership.

If what you say is true, that means, I was told wrong information; you should have told me this right from the get go bud! I'll have to get back in touch with Komatsu and talk to the guy who got me the specs on the 185, tell them about this, and see if I can get a list of Demag's old dealerships in the US.

Ummm, he did tell you that right from the get go. He clearly stated that here was a Demag dealer in the Reno area in the '80s. Not sure how you could construe that as not telling you.

Yes, but I thought he was talking about a dealer that carried the Demag line; not a private Demag dealership, that's where I got confused.

So does that mean that a company like Caterpillar has no dealers in North America? Since there are none owned by Cat that I am aware of, would that mean they have no dealers? I think you'll find that most equipment companies don't own their dealerships, but have contacts with other companies to service and sell their equipment. In fact, I can only think of a couple of equipment companies that actually own their own dealerships. Some of the more specialised types of equipment manufacturers have their own service and support locations, and these usually include sales as well, but it really isn't that common.

Remember, just because someone from a dealer told you something, doesn't mean it is true. They can be just as ill-informed as anyone else out there.

I'm not trying to come across as rude, but arguing what other people have told you based on something you have heard with no substantiation, doesn't make much sense.
