So far none of you guys can guess the problem ! I'll post a photo in a few minutes, I think you'll pick-up on it quickly after that....

LOL Gary, they liked working with us and seeing the " older " truck. The crowd on a Saturday afternoon in Manhattan ( 72nd and Broadway ) was HUGE ! So many people stopped and even took pictures and videos of the whole loading process !

Alright, try it with this as your guide. Pay close attention ! I'm sure one of you will catch on...-

and one of the originals again

* Note - the boom stops are not the problem. The reason they are not on the crane is because it was set-up as a tower.

GOOD LUCK ! Maybe I can throw in a prize for the winner Wink

Nice pics Danny! Ill take a guess, but it appears that there are no flags on the tracks in pic 1, a big no no for highway or street transport...as they have flags in the second?

Thanks and good guess Greg, but nope ! We always put the flags on before we get going. They're magnetic and we don't need them getting stolen...

WE HAVE A WINNER !

The chains normally face the rear of the trailer. We didn't want to have them turn the crane around on ply-wood in the road. There is a gear-box under the crane that has to set a certain way inside the beam of the trailer which offsets the crane a certain amount to the right. The way that it is loaded ( chains facing the tractor ) is " wrong " and the crane is " backwards ". This makes the height significantly taller, about 15 feet. Height dosent play a huge factor in the city thankfully. Tony Mack's beam is significantly bigger than ours, we figure he must carry 4100's at 15 foot himself !

GREAT pictures in both your posts guy's!!! I always love seeing your rig doin its thing Lil DannyCool I can't believe your little trivia question, we had to deal with that EXACT same issue today!! This pic doesn't show the lean very well at all but it was bad, real bad, once out on the level street and attempted to spin it around to even out the weight we came damn close to loosing it off the trailerShhh

Thanks for the compliments Kenny ! I didn't know you could move them like this in the west. Loading these things is ( as anyone would imagine ) key for the way it rides and height. Can't just wing something like this.

We aren't as crazy as you guy's... we have to put a turn table on our beam trailer to be able to remove the tracks... I have heard of full moves we have done from one job to another right down the street but I haven't been on any of those haulsd'oh!
Here's 1 pic with the tracks off...

Nice office you got goin on ! What do you mean put a turn table on the beam ? You should see the solution we came up with to this problem. I'll give you a hint ! It involved cribbing, a truck crane, and the wobble wheel flying in the air. I got some pictures to post if you're interested...

Heck yeah I wanna see the pics!Smile

Here's a pic of the turntable method we use [You can see it sitting right in front of the crane on the trailer]

It's basically just a piece of steel w/ a circular center mounted piece on top in turn creating a "turntable", we bolt this onto the beam trailer and place the crane directly above it... raise the trailer till the tracks come off the ground... remove the tracks... bolt the boom to the front neck of the trailer... now with the tracks off, the boom mounted to the trailer, and the crane sitting on the turntable when we spin the cab it actually spins the carbody below... hopefully this makes senseThink I gotta bet everybody has there own crazy methods to moving these beastly cranes since there doesn't seem to be any real "easy" wayAnxious
