Surveyor, In the 4th pic with the vac truck, is the guy with the white hard hat and gray hair taking a picture a DOT guy? If he is I know him, I met him as well as a couple other guys on the 1st Phase of the Collingswood Circle project. His name is Pete, and one of the other guys was Harry, I saw Harry when South State was installing the beams for the bridge over Cooper River. I also rode by St. Marys Cemetery in Bellmawr a few weeks back and saw Conti loading trucks with their PC600. Do you have any inside info about what Creamer is doing along the Black Horse Pike in Audubon? It looks like maybe gas lines or something, I'm not too sure, but I know they've got a bunch of new equipment out there and they are mainly doing night work.

Great pics! I'm loving that 349E, I always look forward to an update of this thread. I'd love to have the access you have to the Direct Connect project and more, I'd be a picture takin fool.

I believe that was the owner of the vac truck. There were only 2 DOT inspectors there that day. Do you mean Pete Rymer (spelling)? If you do he's on the Direct Connect project. We left the Direct Connect project back in Aug. I am supervising the person providing the layout to Abbonizio. I'm not sure what Creamer is doing in Audubon. Currently we're working on RT 38, RT 49 over the Salem River, finishing up the power plant in West Deptford and a couple of other small projects with R.E. Pierson. We're also working on raising Sea Isle Blvd about 5', Pemberton Rd, Millville Airport and a lot of other projects for South State.

Nice pics, Nj Surveyor, looks like PKF is running that 349, as I see one of their trucks in the background. They just started a massive job near my way on the P.A. Turnpike. PKF also has their Terex HC 230 or HC 275 Terex on that site too. They have Meco Constructors as the dirt contractor like Abbonizio is on Direct Connection. Meco is getting big, they are also working with Road-Con on another portion of the turnpike. They now also have 3 Cat 365's in their fleet too.

Over the summer I think MECO had a 374d on the turnpike there right next to the G&R dealership.

regards,
Jim

Thought that was a late model 365. They have a 365BL a 365Cl, and a 374DL. They are by far one of the largest mass excavation contractors in the area.

I never got his last name, but he was a really nice guy along with various other NJDOT guys I'd wind up talking to. That's great that you're staying busy, one more question if you don't mind, have you ever worked with anyone from Mountain View Layout? I had a run in with 2 really nice guys when the Collingswod circle project was going on, I was standing close to 130 and had a State trooper bust my chops for not having a vest and the one guy loaned me a vest so I didn't get my chops busted. Sadly I never got any names, but if I ever saw them again I'd probably recognize them.

The scrapyard is Northeast Meal Traders in North Philadelphia. The 349 was setting helical piles for Railroad Construction in Woodbury. If one of the guys from Mountain View was tall with black hair and a limp that was Frank. We went to school together for surveying. I also know a couple of other guys that have worked for them over the years. There are not many union survey companies in Jersey, we have all worked for the same people.

When they were doing that stream relocation I think they did have a later model 365c, but they did have the 74 there this summer. Lucky for them, they could use the cut to fill and run ADT's. A lot of the fills on the Northeast Extension have a lot of spec'ed fills, and about a million yards of rock and dirt that doesn't jive with it.

regards,
Jim
