My last opinion on this topic... I think they are many facts to consider on the model business, although its not very different from any other business... First of all whats makes a company is its demand for their product(the customers...us collectors in this case) If the customers do not like the product, chances are there not going to buy it, if they don't buy it, the company goes down the drain and vice-versa...
I think the T800W is a great model, of course I would've liked somethings to be different like the bumper and grill, but that's not up to me... collectors pitched the idea of a T800W, Sword decided how to produce it, soon they will know if they made the right decision...
Very interesting discussion going on, I hope it doesn't get ruined...

Guys, I have been biting my tongue not to make A comment about the whole T800W grill issue, but I can't sit quiet anymore. I know it doesn't matter what I think about the model, I already have A black one on order, but what everyone whose is complaining about the grill needs to realize is, be thankful that in this day and time where the economy is struggling, that we are even offered new models. I would really hate to see Chuck get disappointed and maybe get mad enough to say, I will just stop doing new tooling and just quit making models as A whole, then who will we buy American Trucks off of? Yes First Gear does make A nice model of the Mack Granite, but that is all they have so far in 1:50 scale and yes Norscot has their line of trucks, but they don't compare to Swords Line of trucks. So I think we need to pull back A little and just be thankful that Chuck is offering something different, yes I don't really care for the grill on the T800W, but it didn't stop me from buying one. I don't think the grill will be noticeable that much anyway, especially if you have the Flip Axle trailer hooked up and A nice load on their as well. Just my opinion...

I own several Sword models and will continue to buy the ones I like. Sword like any other buisness is in buisness to make money. If there is a market for American styled trucks there will be a model builder if there is no maket there will be no builder. I am not a fan of the T800W and will not buy any although I have 14 of His Peterbilts and will be adding some of te 4 axle flip trailers to them. I love the Mack Granite but don't like it as a 8X6 so I will be waiting to see if it come out as a tandem tractor. It is as simple as buy what you like. The manufactures will build what sells well, it's called American Capitalism.

Well, as long as Sword continues to make nothing but trucks, no orders will be forthcoming from me.
When they came out with the Komatsu Valmet forestry line, I was excited that we would see some models from more obscure manufacturers like that. Specifically my hope was for models of Kress products and the like. Instead a steady stream of trucks have been forthcoming and my ordering has ceased.
It is a shame a real opportunity to provide a varied line of interesting models has been missed.

The Kress line would make a very interesting bunch of models, where I work they have several pot haulers, scrap haulers and slab haulers. But is there enough collectors who have ever seen these or would want them? Lots of people have seen the class 8 big rigs and have a place for them in their collection, mill stuff would be hard to find enough people to buy the models to justify the expense of tooling. But if they are ever produced you could count me in. Just my opinion. http://www.kresscarrier.com/

If they were to do some Kress models in 1:87 they might do very well.

I doubt GM would license a product of a line that they are discontinuing. Trucks from the 4500 and up are going to cease production soon, if they havent already. Exactly as I was going to say. Yes he didn't make it up Chevy is dropping from the 4500 up, this model year is the last year. And I can say from expeience they are nothing but junk and their weight compared to gvw's allow you to put hardly anything in them. From a Chevy mechanic we know they're saying the same stuff Cat has been saying "Oh don't worry you'll still be able to buy parts, we'll still do the service, and don't worry about the warrenties". They're already starting to cut back on the parts he said, and they're not even done getting rid of the trucks they still have on their lots, Jim
