You are of course correct on the sums. I was just basing it all on the figures you had used and not the price others sell it for (€179), which of course is way too high in your opinion. I am glad you passed this project on to Steve. He is a good guy and I am sure was very happy when you guys passed this project to him. Regardless of the price, I am looking forward to the models that will be released this year. Not to mention Bemmel this weekend Paul R

Extract from a Paul R previous message:
"And for the record I am in a Paris hotel room right now and will not see my wife for another 10 days, having been away for 10 already. Nothing to boast about as it is just another hotel room and is just my job, which I happen to enjoy."
Hello Paul,
I'm also in Paris but for two days only.
any chance to meet you sometimes. I'm in hotel in the Clichy area up to tomorrow, then I'll have to leave due to a lack of space. If you're not too far.....from the Terrass hotel....room 514....leave a phone nber and i'll call you back...
Regards

If you take five min. to surf the net then you will find a few interesting prices . WSI Liebherr LTM 1050.3 DHS = $ 139.95 LIEBHERR SHOP = e 98.00 KSM MODELS = e 98.00 FRITZES MODELS= a 98.00 CONRAD Liebherr LTM 1030-2.1 DHS= $ 152.95 DMB MODELS = £ 70.00 RITZES MODELS= e 65.00 LIEBHERR SHOP = e 64.50 KSM MODELS = e 62.00 Now allowing for the differences in the currencys the WSI price seems about the same where ever you are. but there is something not quite right with the CONRAD price one . GusO wrote:very good dww, and then this useless thread would have never existed quite the remark there.... why even say something like this, you know your intent was to get a rise out of people! why in the hell would i pay for something to ship from Europe! the point of this "useless thread" opinionated GusO is that Conrad is very lazy with detail, they release the same crane with the same parts in a different livery and keep the price the same, no new molds are made and everything remains the same aside from paint and decals. WSI has a ton of detail coming on their new 1050 crane while Conrad has a base model that is years and years old and is no longer a $150 model even on its best day.... price needs to drop!!! lets count the companies that include details in their models now.... TWH, NZG (more recently) WSI, LTM, Sword..... companies that dont.... CONRAD!!! how can their price be so high yet not include anything, i know give me the German VS Chinese speech again but it can be done, so no i dont think this thread was usless..... case and point NZG and the LTM 11200.... great price and everyone that has bought the crane and ranted and raved about the amount of detail to the model..... LG 1750, basic crane with not one iota of detail and still at least $900+/- a little bit before shipping, the prices dont match up

DONT BUY IT . Geez Dewoc....Can you not read? NZG ----- mostly Made in China = low labor and capital costs that are strictly controlled by the government Conrad -- mostly Made in Germany = high labor and capital costs that float with the market forces It is clear you weren't listening in class when the lesson was about economics or monetary policy. You seem like a bright lad. Do some reading on the subject. WikiPedia would do just fine. But take a moment and try to get informed. Then you might uderstand better the economies of scale which effect all goods and services and cause such profound differences in prices for similar items. But simply speaking, state cotrolled economies operate under etirely different rules that free market economies. BTW, a little internet perusal will find the Conrad Liebherr 1030 available here in the US for a VERY competitive price. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Elis-Hobby-Diecast/803248369690387?ref=hl

like i already said, i understand the whole China VS German point... im saying that there is and are ways to do more for less. people do it all the time, regardless of location and given todays economic crisis i would say now more than ever is when you should be looking into making that kind of stuff happen. Conrad doesnt have to do a single thing to re release the LG 1750 outside of different paint and decals which are already factored into their price already just simply in different color and logo.... now i have a hard time buying that its still costing you "X" to produce that crane when its already been on the market for so long, surely the price should have dropped some as you are not manufacturing any NEW parts
people are not going to settle for basic models anymore. you want models with rubber tracks again? crappy hand railings, cabs with no design in them? just a blank space or do you expect certain details to be included with models now. China might be able to do things for less but Germany is gonna have to make it happen and make it work. yeah if i dont like it i wont buy it, hence me saying in my first post that i wasnt planning on buying Conrad stuff anymore or as much. i have no problem paying a little extra for something that is gonna include the small stuff

Dewoc, the problem with conrads prices being so high in the US is down to customs and import taxes etc. In the liebherr shop, the conrad ltm 1030 is €64.50 and the WSI 1050 is €98.00 which both seem fair to me for the model on offer. Surely this shows that the problem is with the dollar prices in the US due to taxes.
And as for conrad producing the same models and just changing the livery and decals, how many liveried ltm 1030's have been made? I cant think of too many. How many liveried LG and LR 1750's have been made? Maybe 3-4 max. And the one they have made most liveries in which in my opinion is a fantastic model with enough detail for anyone is the ac500 (which i think there is only about 7 liveried versions of). Now not to be at wsi's neck again but for comparison, how many liveried nooteboom low loaders have been made? maybe 50 plus. I have no doubt the same will be the case with the ltm1050. So if anything, i think conrad make less out of their moulds than most other model producers out there.
Noel.
