Hi Guys,

Containers 59.00 Euros not sure if that is for one or all three ?

Hy Birdman

I think this price is for one Container, because if you look at: http://www.msw-modelle.com/de/search-and-find/matching-scalemodels/?q=see+container&module=findMatchingArticles&filterByAvailability=all you will see that a standard branded 20 Ft just costs around 29 € i think 59 € for a special Mammoet branded one should be normal.

In my opinion 29 €, what actually are approx 38 $, are definitely to much because there is no further functionality than to put it on a Trailer and show it there. If you could open the rear doors and load something inside, then I would understand the Price, but paying 29 or even more bugs for a simple decorated metal box ? definitely no way.

Hi Speddy, thanks for the link and information on the price.

As you say, if the doors opened and you could put something inside then yes, I might accept paying 59 Euros.

But if this is true - 59 Euros(£49!) for one container then I will definately pass.....

Hi Guys,

There seems to be a bit of confusion regards the container sets, speddy the WSI container set at €32 is for 2 x 20ft containers not one, looking in the Sept 2013 catalouge from Mammoet it describes it as a container set I am going to assume that it is for three containers @ €59.00 still a bit over priced in my opinion, but sounds better than €59.00 each or €179.00 for three, but if that is the case then that is extracting the urine Think

Hope that clarifies things

Steve.

It looks like the price of the containers might not be quite so bad because I asked on Hansebube if anyone could clarify the price and I got a reply saying it was 59 Euros for a set of three(I'm guessing it's 2 x red and 1 x yellow as in the photo).

It would be a great touch though if WSI could engineer opening doors into them. I seem to remember having some kind of toy truck containers when I was a small boy that had opening doors and that's 30 years ago!.

Confirmation from the Mammoet store website that the set is for three containers 2x red, 1x yellow and will be produced in an edition of 500, also LR1600 will be in an edition of 600 pieces the Scania 8x4 will be done in an edition of a 1000 pieces, should be available from Mammoet store 23/09/13 to all, anyone going to the open day on the 21st Sept can buy them then, hope that helps.

I agree with you Paul, it would be nice to have a bit of functionality with them, how hard can it be?

Steve.

The GMK looks good! The Titan looks ok, I just don't like the ballast box, I rather have the normal one or the one from the picture above. But that is just my opion

But if you pay close attention, that design seems to allow for keeping the fifth wheel in place. As I used WSI 04-1070 WSI Titan 8x8 for doing the two above, removing the fifth wheel is not easy as it requires to remove a tiny screw from under the frame, which is located directly under the shafts. Ultimately, you need to dismantle all the bottom of the truck for accessing it and it is not an easy job since many attachments and accessories are in plastic.

My opinion is that this choice of ballast box by WSI may have something to do with that issue. Think

Still, I would (personnaly) keep the current box for eventual resale, but get a white WSI ballast box (I did that for both trucks) and repaint in Mammo livery.

It might be that, but i believe the other wsi models that are for the heavy haul in Mammoet colours are with the fifth wheel and then the box on top. I have two one Mercedes actros and a M.A.N heavy haul tractor with both. I might me wrong because i am not at home to check it.

I did what you suggested with my Mercedes Titan 8x8 Tractor military version and used the white ballast box and painted it karkie.looks great.
Reference the 6*6 Mammoet ballast tractor the ballast box does cover the fifth wheel ,so should able to swap it with 8*8 tractor?
Leon.

Probably, but since there is a pin under some ballast box, which is meant to be connected to the fifth wheel, you cannot slide the box back and forth if you are not satisfied with it's position. I like ballast box to be flush with the end of the truck. I cannot recall if the original military truck does so.

I ended up removing the screw (under the fifth wheel) and simply let it loose over the frame when assembling with a trailer since I don't really "play" my models, but rather display. That also allows for more versatility if you decide to put a different type of box or platform eventually. In the case of the second truck (the Quatar version), the ballast box sits lower on the frame and do not allow enough room for the fifth wheel. And as far as I know, not all ballast box from WSI allows for leaving the fifth wheel under.
