Featured Models: Tekno Netherlands Military Daf Tropco 700 w/ 7 Axle Broshuis Low Loader, Sword Oshkosh HET 8x8 truck w/ M1000 5 Axle Low Loader Trailer, Sword HEMTT 8x8 Military Cargo Truck, Tamiya HMWWV w/ Grenade Launcer UN Spacy Livery, Sword M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, AirFix Patrolling Soldiers Custom Digital Camo, Unimax UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter. Sci-Fi Models are Yamato VF-1A Veritech Fighter, Yamato Destroid Defender Mech.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 1 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

This Tekno model is one of the best with respect to detail, however one slight is that the trailer is nearly entirely resin.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 8 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

The big 700 hp Daf is definitely well suited to hauling 60+ ton main battle tanks. It is a robust 6x6 design. The detailing on the cab with the access steps and intricate tampo printing, even down to the logistics unit marking on the front. The heavy brush guard on the front can be folded down to allow access to the powerplant underneath. The spare tire carrier can even be folded out, as seen here.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 9 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Where the model really shines is on the equipment tower mounted to the back. The resin and photo etch detailing abound. The fire extinguisher, the winches (which are non-functional unlike the Oshkosh HET), the coiled service lines, and the heavy duty radiator. Fine details are the EU Netherlands licence plate and again the logistics unit designation.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 10 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

The beautiful and robust paint scheme definitely offers up a solid and heavy duty military look. The warning beacon light on the top of the cab also furthers the attention to detail applied.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 11 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

The fine photoetch detailing on the heavy duty rear mounted radiator adds an extra depth to the realism that has been captured on this model. The high riding cab denotes the extra clearance required for the front differential to allow this beast to navigate through rough offroad terrain.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 6 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

In this pic you can see the detail under the cab as the 700 hp powerplant is revealed. Also notable is the brush guard folded down to allow access. There is fine diamond plate texture on the rear wheel covers of the truck and fine photoetch metal on the gooseneck of the trailer.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 2 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

The heavy duty Broshuis 7 Axle trailer certainly looks the part for heavy haulage. The light weight of the resin cast is certainly not reflected in the pics, but it does detract from the overall quality feel of the model. The detailing is certainly not sacrificed as there are fairleads for guiding the winch cables to recover and load heavy armour onto the trailer. There are silver shackles on the gooseneck for securing the load. The ramps are secured w/ fine metal straps. The 7 axles have linked progressive steering which is an excellent point of functionality.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 7 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Detail abounds at the rear of the trailer as well. The loading ramps have photoetched detailing on the surface for texture. There are warning signs, a beacon, unit designator, licence plate and even coloured plastic lenses for the tail lights.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 12 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

In side profile the combination makes for a large and robust model. It is able to just fit 2x HMWWVs, even though they certainly would not be pushing the weight limit on the trailer.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 13 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

The ramps fold down nicely to allow different display options for the model.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 14 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Hauling what it was designed for, with a large M1 Abrams being loaded onto the heavy trailer, you can almost hear the creak of plastic, 'er metal' as the tank rolls onto the trailer. LOL!

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 15 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Main battle tank all ready for the road... If only it had some chains. A diorama piece that I am working on as soon as I find some small black springs I will make some tensioned chains to lash loads.

Tekno Daf Tropco 6x6 and Broshuis 7 Axle Low Loader 16 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

If you want to haul a fighter jet, this rig can handle that as well.

The packaging of this model is also top tier from Tekno. It comes in a plexiglass clear display case with black wooden base which is a beautiful display option. The outer cardboard sleeve even has camouflage on it instead of the typical blue and orange.

Overall, this is a top tier model with superior detailing and quality build. It lacks some of the functionality of it's HET counterpart and the resin trailer leaves something to be desired, but for a static display model it is definitely one of the best pieces produced by Tekno and is a very proud addition to my collection.

Thanks for viewing. Next up will be the Sword Oshkosh HET.

As I do collect trains as well as diecast, I do have the powered version. Paid almost $1200 for it but I think it's worth it. If I had to compare the quality to a model, the diecast ES44's from Lionel are equivalent to CCM models. I hear you on the MTH flatcars. I think I have around 12 of them. I don't know if you have heard of Ralph's Trains but he does a lot of stuff with flatcars and heavy equipment. I think he has a website that's worth the look! Anyways enjoy those engines and get a powered one would ya!

Hi Scheggaboochee, that Lionel ES44 is an epic looking train and you're right the detail is outstanding. The traction you must get off of a 15 pound train engine is incredible.

That Ralph's Train Loads is a very cool site and he breaks down the loads very realistically. The only thing missing are the wheel hubs with lugs to fill the axle holes.

Powered trains for me will be reserved until I grow up and actually buy a house instead of living like a gypsy in apartments. LOL! Plus I'll have to do some saving based on the step up in price from non-powered to powered engines. You have to love the functionality and realism they provide though. Thanks so much for your wonderful comments.

Take care and all the best.

And the Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 8x8 w/ M1000 5-axle trailer.

Featured Models: Tekno Netherlands Military Daf Tropco 700 w/ 7 Axle Broshuis Low Loader, Sword Oshkosh HET 8x8 truck w/ M1000 5 Axle Low Loader Trailer, Sword HEMTT 8x8 Military Cargo Truck, Tamiya HMWWV w/ Grenade Launcer UN Spacy Livery, Sword M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, AirFix Patrolling Soldiers Custom Digital Camo, Unimax UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter. Sci-Fi Models are Yamato VF-1A Veritech Fighter, Yamato Destroid Defender Mech.

The pentultimate of military heavy transportation (at least for ground transportation).

Ready to rock and roll with an offloading of the M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. Alongside is the Tekno Netherlands Daf Tropco 6x6 w/ Broshuis 7-axle heavy low loader trailer laden with HMWWV x2 and finishing off the trio is the Sword HEMTT 8x8 Cargo Truck.

Guiding the massive tank off the trailer and into the battle zone.

Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 w- M1000 Trailer 4 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Airfix Vehicle crew solider in custom digital camouflage built to pose on the HET. The figures add a lot to the diorama and help to tell an interesting story. The detail and robust profile of the HET is captured brilliantly on this Sword model. The front and rear axles steer which offers greater maneuverability in tight off-road spaces. On the gooseneck you can see the information panels which add so much to the realism.

Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 w- M1000 Trailer 8 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Quite a climb up past the off-road tires and onto the rear equipment deck with a protective screen for operating the winch. The winch is functional on this model so it can be posed recovering heavy armour onto the trailer. The M1 Abrams has open recovery eyes which can be used to hook onto chains.

Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 w- M1000 Trailer 9 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Amazing functionality and detail integrated into this model. 3x functional winches, rear functional recovery eyes, airlines and embossed mudflaps with the Oshkosh logo. If you look close enough at the rear suspension you can even see the small springs for the functional supsension.

Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 w- M1000 Trailer 11 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Photoetch detail under the cab and on the heat shield of the exhaust adds a solid finishing touch on this exquisite model. There's even a spare tire in case the off roading gets a little too intense.

Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 w- M1000 Trailer 10 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Passenger side profile of the massive HET, even with a crew cab to haul the tank crew when hauling an M1 Abrams.

Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 w- M1000 Trailer 12 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Massive engine and radiator is very well detailed. Also featured are the lifting eyes that emerge through the hood and are attached to a robust frame that would support the truck being lifted by a crane.

Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 w- M1000 Trailer 13 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Excellent detailing extends (of course) to the front as well. Photoetched grille, functional recovery eyes and brush guard over the front lights. Notice how the camouflage breaks across the brush guard which demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship. Notice the fine printing on the front bumber "tie down" beside the recovery eye.

Sword Oshkosh HET M1070 w- M1000 Trailer 14 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Imposing front grille, w/ Oshkosh emblem on the top and a fleet number featured on the passenger side. Definitely a robust truck, fitting for off road heavy haulage.

VF1 Veritech and Destroid Defender Forward Re-Supply 4 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Not to be outdone by the Daf Tropco, the HET can also handle a jet... LOL!

Tamiya HMMWV w- Grenade Launcher UN Spacy 1 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Tamiya HMWWV w/ grenade launcher model kit in custom UN Spacy livery. The detail is superb with suspension modelled well, rubber tires. Extra detailing was added by drilling out the barrel of the grenade launcher and highlighting w/ silver paint to demonstrate wearing of the bluing. There is even a small waterslide decal for the ammo can on the grenade launcher.

Sword M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank 2 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Heavy hitting M1 Abrams, staring down the business end of the 120 mm main cannon. The blue highlighting on the drivers hatch demonstrates nice attention to detail, but I'll probably change it to black with some clear varnish to give it a glass appearance. The hull art adds some beautiful detail. This tank was originally released as a load for the MTH flat car and could have been purchased with two tanks and a flatcar for about $60 US when it was first release. Fingers crossed for a re-release of those flat cars.

Sword M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank 1 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Love the "Protest This" on the side of the barrel, which really adds to the character of this model. The tracks roll freely and the bottom track rollers also roll freely so there is a fair bit of functionality. The main gun features elevation as well. The mounted heavy machine guns are fixed in place. I will likely add a sat com aerial to the tank like I did with the HMWWVs. I have several Japanese Type 10 Main Battle Tanks from Tamiya which will bolster the armour in my collection. I'm having a lot of fun with the model kits to add to the military dioramas.

Unimax UH-60L Blackhawk Helicopter 3 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Bringing the UH-60 Blackhawk to a safe landing. Armed with Hellfires and Long Range Fuel tanks on the sponsons, this bird is ready to bring the fight.

Unimax UH-60L Blackhawk Helicopter 2 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Rotars wound down and soldier disembarking. These helos are incredible to fly in and put roller coasters to shame. The climb rate is wild and when you're flying nap of the earth with the door open, it's an awesome ride.

Unimax UH-60L Blackhawk Helicopter 1 by ChandlerYohn, on Flickr"/>

Aggressive, yet beautiful profile. Wire cutters and steps integrated into the design highlight the fine detailing of this helo.

Thanks so much for viewing.

A fun little diorama that I hope to expand upon. Models are from Woodland Scenics and modified JTT Scenery products (adapted to be displayed on a glass shelf).

Hi Paul, great to hear from you and thanks so much. I would love to have this scene alongside a dredging operation or to set it up along the base of a train bridge.

Hope you've been well, take care and all the best.
