i asked about the CWs and main block and Tara at TWH said that the final model will have more weights, the ones on it now are metal and if more were added, it would tip, and she said the block will be bigger and look more like the real one.

yeah that block does look kind of small given the size of the model but maybe its just the picture.... and what do you mean if more were added it would tip? tip backwards, cause it wont tip forwards if you add more weights

WHAT! i mean look at the pictures of the real 31000, thats ballast tray is loaded with CWs. the fact that they are only going to throw a couple on the back is not even accurate to me and quite frankly a disappointment. look at the LG 1750, they give you so many CWs for the ballast tray, you would think they tray would rip right off from all the weight.
so then the model is made out of what then?

What an impressive model. Any word yet on whether the luffing jib is to be readily removable? That could be a deal-breaker for me as I really don't think I'll have anywhere to put it if the luffer is fixed (really don't want to try drilling out rivets on a model as expensive as this!)

Man this is one nice one for the cookie-clubbers. Yeah I know the PTC was great and all but this is somehow even more cool.......must be the crawlers.

I know what you mean, I love the PTC model it really does blow you away but I think this will top it, as you say there is something about it that I don't even think the up coming SGC120 will top, the ring cranes are amazing but to have something this size so completely mobile is unbelievable. This, in my opinion will be the best model available to crane collectors until WSI get there hands on the LR13000 blueprints. Gaz

Just send that primered unit to me and I will give it a paint job!! And once done with it, in Mammoet colors of course, they will probably buy two of them. At one time Mammoet had zero CC8800's. Then I I painted my stock CC8800 in Mammoet and now they own two. So if Manitowoc wants to sell two more units, let me paint the prototype in Mammoet and then they will want two!! Happened before, just saying.........

Haha, would be cool to see a mammoet 31000, surprised they haven't bought one, guess it would put the ptc out of business though

Mammoet needs to teach the PTC to pick and carry. Until then, the 31000, CC8800 TWIN and LR13000 are different beasts that will find their places in the market, and I guess you could add the Lampson LTL-2600 to that list as well. It is interesting that all of the large offerings from the crane manufacturers are pick-and-carry machines, while those from the operators (Mammoet PTC, Sarens SGC and ALE SK) are all stationary.

Even as a dirt guy, I must say that the pictures of this thing have absolutely blown me away! Can't wait to see pictures of the production versions all painted up. Sounds like there are quite a few here that have one on order! Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

I don't think the ups guy will be able to carry this puppy to your front door,he will need a tailgate loader on the van and a trolley, and most of us will have to cut a big hole in the ceiling or rent a shed to show it with all that boom and jib,it will be interesting, atleast we have plenty of time to workout where it will fit,it's all fun.
