I always forget about the "fun" part of crane models.....the *&&#$ rigging!! This thing is kicking my butt. I got the boom hoists rigged but the lines do not cooperate in their shives when attempting to raise the boom. What a mess can be made in a hurry!! I will probably move on the the hook block so I do not have to rig on a ladder! All I can say is if you successfully rigged a CC8800 model or the M-18000 you MIGHT be ready fot this beast!
Good news is that the model is stable with the boom almost horizontal

thats GREAT news, thats one thing i wanted to know with a model of this size if it had enough ass to hold to boom up with it layed all the way out but still off the ground, for the amount you pay it had better, but you did add a lot of weight in those ballast containers yourself, either way though
the other thing i want to know is how do you keep the tension the same on the boom hoist drums so that one doesnt wind faster than the other and have one side slacked while the other is tensioned?

the two hoist drums eventually connect together under the machine. there is no way to wind the two drums together and have the lines roll smooth thru the shieves. the instructions have you reeving the boom support lines after the hook block and with the boom elevated to final position, seemed a bit backwards but I now understand why

NICE MODEL!!! It is absolutely massive.... I'll have to make sure my wife doesn't see this thread until AFTER my 31000 arrives... I'm confused....they are equalizing the boom hoist line under the drums?? How does that work? Or are they running the two "dead" ends back down from the mast and under the machinery deck? If anyone has a sketch or pic I would appreciate it!

cool way to equal out. I know the last company I was at we had a old Whirly floating rig. The boom cables dead end went back to the center of the boom. Help support the boom. pain in the ass to reeve.  Justin

i just wanted to bring this back up cause we never got to see the final deal, with the hook on and it in its final boom position. would love to see some updated pictures if possible
